I am sure you posted this on the 7th April for very good reasons.
I still clearly remember the news flash that day in 1968 and it might sound a bit over dramatic but I still think about him at some point every single day.
I was racing at Rockingham Slot Car Club today in a vintage meeting and as a small mark of respect I drove a few laps in my Cox Lotus 40 and Monogram Lotus 38.

Yes,
I heard the news the next day and I was in shock.
I think the Motorsport article says it best:
"Indeed, the more the sport ‘progresses’ the more Clark’s example continues to shine. To many he remains the greatest racing driver of all time, not just because of his strike rate of 25 Grand Prix victories in only 72 attempts, nor even his Indianapolis 500 success, but because he remained an unspoiled gentleman throughout, the true sporting hero."

I was wondering if anyone would place a post. The years come and go so fast now. November is not a good month either. Regards Nigel An update from ESPN, regarding Clarks death. en.espnf1.com/blogs/motorsport/story/153175.htmlSome of the relevant post are interesting too. Nigel

Nigel,
Thanks for posting that article; it's an interesting take--I suppose it would be very hard to substantiate; I'd usually heard that a deflating tire caused the accident.
Whatever the cause, I'm certain it was not driver error. I'm just so sad that Jim died so young and at the top of his game.

I'm not sure the ESPN piece adds anything concrete to the cause of the crash. It is more or less a conspiracy theory which seem so popular these days.
The crash investigation at the time was carried out by a respected independent RAC official with aircraft crash investigation experience and his report was available for all to read. The ESPN piece incorrectly suggests that it was all hushed up.
No one will ever know what caused the crash after all these years.
