Wow, that's impressive! The engine looks very, very well. Did you construct this printed part from scratch? Best regards, Thomas

Brilliant!
How did you do that!
Will you be making these available for poor souls like myself?

Hi Andi,
Pretty damn impressive. You'll have to do a Dan Gurney version as well now!
Play special attention to the Eagles Beak, the Scalex version (which is on your car) is not entirely correct.
It's going to be a great slot car when finished!!!

Yes the design is all from scratch. There appear to be no easily available drawings of the Climax so I had to rely on one section and the photographs to try to get it all right.
I might make them available. The problem is that this print uses what is called a 'maker's material', i.e. One that you cannot sell on your Shapeways shop so i'd have to do it to order which is expensive....
Thanks Chris. One will be enough I feel.... i'll have a look at the nose. Is it that the real car had a higher body from beak to screen? That is what I see on the Al Pease car. It looks higher through there and less flat. What did you find when you built yours? For the first time I am going racing, not too worried about perfect scale but if the mods are relatively easy i'll do it.....
Cheers Andi

Here's a head on shot, the Climax car has a "mouth" on it, it looked like an Eagles bill, the scalex version missed all the dimension's needed to make it look realistic. Shouldn't be a hard mod.

Terrific work Andi, from the body to the chassis to the engine and gearbox. Is there any chance you can describe how you go about designing the printed parts, to give those of us who have no idea about the design/production of such parts, an insight please? Regards Nigel

Thanks Chris, that nose is now clear. I'll see what I can do with the time available.....
I'll have a think chaps about how to try to show what I do. Maybe in the how-to section?
Cheers Andi

The car is complete except for some dashboard detail and a few nuts and bolts here and there.... Then it'll need to be refettled now the paint will have messed up all the clearances! Then its off home to Canada for Mr Pease...

Very impressive Andi. You would never know it started off as a Scalextric Eagle. did you make the wheel inserts or are they adapted Scalex ones? Paul Gage tyres?
Best Regards
David

Exquisite! And thanks, Andi, for solving the mystery of that small sponsor decal seen on only a few of the cars (Hill, Wietzes, and Brabham) in the 1967 Canadian GP. I've been staring at blurry blowups of vintage photos, but now I know it's a "Bear" sticker!
