G'day everyone. Round 1 is run and done. Slo1quick and I did the driving and a friend Peter came along and helped with the marshalling. Here is the qualifying run. and here is the final result. The #3 car was clearly the quickest and was the clear winner. This car also is the first Tasman car to go under 3 seconds for a lap on this track. The cars this year are generally better than previous years so hats off to everyone for your efforts.

Here is some feedback on each of the cars.
#1 The Grandkids - Motor had plenty of punch, was a little unsettled at speed and seemed a bit bouncy down the straight, pulls up for the corners well #2 Bunyip - Drifts easily but hangs on well, good solid runner #3 Slo - Slow on throttle and not much brakes, good grip bit of a handful to drive, it does bite. #4 Lenny Broke - Really nice build, good steady power delivery, very forgiving felt it could do with a bit more grip here. good pace #5 Charles - Nice runner, medium pace good grip, bit tippy here #6 Diffinity - Good power, shuddered at pace unsettling it big front wheels and guide held it up for a bit when you wanted to get going # 7 David Mitcham - Lovely build, not as punchy as some, lacked some grip holds slot well #8 John Batich - Good solid runner good power, just a bit down on grip here # 9 Phil Kalbfell - Struggled to get good pace with this one, Had shudder and was unsettled from mid pace (from one of your rear tyres I think Phil). Still a consistent runner #60 FPR7 - Good runner, seemed faster than it was, It did tend to two wheel easy into the corners #12 Sdeamon - Plenty poke under throttle, could get good pace easy enough but it does bite a bit, nice runner #14 Peter Gunn - Nice car again, smooth power pleasure to drive.Offset gear set up for lower cog and bit more grip in the tyres and I reckon this one could have given the podium a nudge. Ask Phil what he did to lower his beardog chassis last year. Just a thought. #17 Dave Bantoff - Consistent easy car to drive, bit more grip might up its pace here. #18 Terry - Great car Terry! Very fast plenty of punch good grip here, would bite in and two wheel. Got some bite #22 Pauls Slots - another nice car, hard not to step the rear out under throttle, good power just slower to get going #41 Plugger - lots of brakes good power felt hard to keep straight #56 Stubbo - Nice consist driver at good pace, very forgiving car didnt bit #67 Glasshorse - Nice looking build, steady driver but couldn't get any pace out of it, seemed down on power and tipped easily #71 Boss's son - Tidy build, good solid runner, seemed to lack mid range poke #78 Manimmal - Love the chassis and solder work! Motor seemed to have some poke down low but slacked off mid range. holds on well

Alan,
That BWA motor tops out at 14,000 RPM, I thought it was a bit anemic... don’t know what anyone else used. Also, we are still running without the windscreen that came off in transit. Are you able to re-install it?

Val,
I have the windscreen in a safe place. I looked at reattaching it but I wasn't exactly sure how to remove the body so I thought it best not to do something wrong and cause a problem.
Most cars are running the SRP 16 motor although it seems that this now may be discontinued.
We will be having a bit of a chat about motors at the end to see what can be available for next year.

Thanks Alan,
I myself lost that windscreen at one point, and it showed up on the workroom floor two weeks later.... As long as it is known by all that it was in place at one time, that’s fine. One could wish for a bit better showing, being the only US entry... although I’m not unaccustomed to dragging the field. I gotta tell you though, that T79 body was an awfully small space to cram all that stuff into....

I have a windscreen cut out and sitting on the bench ready to put on your car. Along with some numbers for Chas’s car.
