Hello all, My name is Micky and I live in Los Angeles. I got back into slot cars about 10 years ago. I got into F1 back in 1983 and have collected F1 car models of that particular year. Since it seems no one is making any slot cars of that year, I’ve decided to build my own. I’ve already started with the Brabham BT52 (early version), Tyrrell 011, and Renault RE30C. They are in the early stages. I plan to start on the Alfa Romeo 183t (late version) and Ferrari 126C2 next. I will submit pics soon.
Thanks, Micky

Hi Micky Although i build 1970's cars rather than '80's i like your period of cars so do show us what you are up to. I recently purchased two body shells from the early '80's from Area 71 (active on Facebook). I have a Ferrari 156 and a Williams FW11B and aim to complete the Williams for a race in the autumn in the UK. Welcome to the forum. Andi

BTW you should also check out what Nonnoslot are doing with metal chassis and vac formed bodies for this period of cars. They are not strictly ' scales but some of my friends are club racing them and they go very well. Cheers Andi

Thanks Andi. I’ll post pics soon. I did want to ask for some advice on motor options that are small enough to fit the narrow F1 cars of that era. I’m currently mocking up with a scalextric F1 motor but It’s too tight. Thanks, Micky

Miguel I developed the Policar gearbox in order to make the crown smaller and move the motor down and forward so that these cars can be accurately modelled. That size motor is the standard for these cars. Have a look here for example: www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=178266&page=2Apologies I find posting photos on this forum difficult now as they need to be resized before posting.... Cheers Andi
