Hmmm, as has been debated on another forum where most of us first met, scratchbuilding (whatever that might mean) is largely a dieing (so is spelling - how is that spelt?) art....
Sadly.
By the way who (apart from me) isn't in that 40-60 bracket on here???
Hahaha Andi

Hello Marcello.
I applaud all scratchbuilders, but this forum is of course only for 1/32 builds.
Do you also build to 1/32 scale as well as 1/24th?
Cheers, Peter.

Hello friends & soon-to-be, My name is Max Rossmassler, I live near San Francisco, California. I returned to the hobby in 2006 after a 39 year absence. I do 3D CAD professionally, for a manufacturer of industrial automation equipment. Since my return to scratchbuilding, I am now habituated to resin bodies, and I am very excited that this forum has started, as it is pretty precisely "my cup of tea". Although I do like fendered cars, too. I am already a great fan of the work of many of you, and I'm eager to share my work and results with all of you. I'll post some of my work as soon as I go thru the website & learn its specifics. Cheers!

Welcome to the Forum Max.
I would guess that you found the hobby very different in 2006 to what it was 39 years earlier.
Perhaps you have a build from the last 6 years which could feature on the past builds section?
Welcome again, Peter.

Hello, my name is Manny Laguatan. I'm so glad to have stumbled onto this forum! Although I haven't been active in the hobby due to family and other obligations I'm a huge fan of 1/32 scale f1 cars. I have a lot of appreciation for the modelers who created many of the amazing models in this forum.
In my rare spare time, I'm working on a 60's inspired f1 body but it's for a 1/10 R/C car. Is there a place on this forum that I might post something that's off topic?

I am also outside the 40-60 bracket as I am 61.
I've just realised that I never properly introduced myself in this thread.
I have "played" with slotcars since 1960 and raced at the commercial raceways in the 1960s slot car boom. I took a break from about 1978 to 1990 when work completely took over my life. When I returned to the hobby in 1990 I immediately started kitbashing classic cars using commercially available chassis but when the retro racing scene took off in the UK around 2005 I started scratchbuilding chassis again. Having used commercially available bodyshells for my race cars I then started carving shells and nowadays almost everything I race has my own chassis and bodyshell.
My favoured era is the 1.5-litre grand prix of 1961-65 but I also enjoy 3-litre grand prix cars of the 1966 to about 1978. Another favourite for me is Brookland cars particularly the Outer Circuit cars.

I am out of the 49-60 age bracket too, although at the other end at the age of 18, and like David realised I hadn't posted here. So... My story is rather simple, Dad bought me a Scalextric back in 2002, played at home on and off for the next five or six years, in this time we moved from the Midlands to Norfolk. In 2008, started racing at the Presto Park club, which Im sure most know of, and won the Junior Championship in '08 and '09. Then had a year or so break before moving to the Norwich Slot Racing club, and last year (2012), I attended four of the six classes, and won three, and came second in the 'Sports GT' class. The club runs mainly RTR cars. As regards open meetings, my first open race was the 2009 Brooklands Feature Race, where I placed a measly 41st of 44 drivers, driving a home built, and rather shocking in hindsight, Penelope Pitlane Tim Birkin Bentley. I competed in the 2nd Brooklands meeting in 2010, running and Alfa Bimotore, with a proper homemade chassis, thanks to Graham Windle who guided me throughout the build, and came about mid field. I've competed in four Wolves open meetings, and have decided to knock on the head the club nights, and focus on doing a few open meetings, to the best of my ability, for 2013. My passions are very broad, girls being the top of course, but 60s and 70s sports cars, the silver arrows, and Grand Prix cars of any era. I'll post some photos up of my builds soon, Anyway, that's me! Regards Jon
