Jay's Grand Loop III
(under construction--we hope!)
Matt's Monza
A few Monza details:
Two lane Carrera
Inside lane (green) 96' 8”
Outside lane (blue) 100’ 5”
Front straight is 15' 3"
Track footprint is 23' 3" x 12' 9".
Table is a 24' x 16' "L", 304 square feet.
Power is MG 10 amp variable power supply.
Timing is Trackmate V6.4 for Windows XP with infrared led sensors. Track calls at driver's stations and two on cables for track marshals.
Driver's stations by Slot Car Corner with XLR quick disconnects and provisions for alligator clips, wired positive gate (ie: commercial format).
Built winter 2008, the layout depicts Monza as rebuilt in 1955 with the (improved) high speed banking and track length of 10Km.
This 10Km layout was used off and on by F1 from 1955 to 1961 and 1000Km endurance races to 1969.
The high speed oval still exists but is in an advanced state of deterioration. You can see it at Google satellite and in the background of races held at the Autodromo.
Ken's Manito Speedway
Forty five foot lap length with a 33% of the track in straights and 66% of the track in turns. There are gentle undulations in the track surface and some lightly off camber turns. The power is a 12 volt adjustable power supply with 20 amps available. The track has hosted 4 VRAA events 1 Cheetah proxy race and several Nascar proxy races. The controllers will be DiFalco 30 bands and the scoring is Laptimer 2000 which works well with the beam coming up through the slot to pick up the narrow cars.
Any tire will work "dry" NSR, YellowDogs and Paul Gage are all very competitive, the track will be well rubbered in with the VRAA event running the day before.
