So i've embarked on my next build which is a GP version of the March 721X, recently produced by Marlon and sold by PP. I've done some research and found these two very useful photos in Mike Lawrence's wonderful book 'March, the rise and fall of a motor racing legend'.... This is the GP version with the low exhausts, And although this is the non GP version it is also very useful! Studying the beautifully made kit I decided that the cockpit area looked smaller than the car I wanted to make. Particularly the flat area in front of the cockpit looks too long. So I marked things up..... Where I felt things could be modified and although this was done by eye I hope it will give rise to a slightly more accurate model. Cutting began.... And once glued back this is how it now looks.... A bit of a mess but the strategic cutting and repositioning will hopefully, once the filling in progresses, give a great shape. It also allowed me to remove a fair amount of solid resin up in the airbox region. Obviously I also then removed the exhausts. And by now I was wondering why I HAD to make this version..... Andi

Hi Andi,
You know that I love it when somebody has the guts to cut a body up, to achieve the goal of perfectionism, well dome my friend. "And by now I was wondering why I HAD to make this version..." Don't doubt yourself, it will be a unique masterpiece again. Thanks for the tutorial steps, this is what I like to see on this forum, keep us posted.
Cheers, Danny

Well thanks for your confidence Marc.....
Yes, Danny this did need the works.... Lovely model but just not ugly enough. In my view this is one of the worst looking gp cars ever produced but somehow Marlon made it look almost sleek! But my mods will take it back to its ungainly self....

This is NOT a good thing... all my car pictures are on Photobucket.
Is anyone else having this problem with the photo sharing site?

Every time I try to post, maybe that is stopping folks posting ? I usually open up the brackets with spaces, quite wide and sometimes it works. Regards Nigel
