Formula 1 All the Races The World Championship Story Race-by-Race 1950-2012 by Roger Smith ISBN 978 0 85733 350 6 published by Haynes Publishing Second edition March 2013 5 stars Available through Amazon.com It's not a picture book or a coffee table book, but it is a 615 reference work that captures each year from 1950-2012 in 9-10 pages with a "Tale of the Title", a succinct summary of each race with all points finishers listed in order, an annual "Championship Facts and Folklore and two great charts that detail key statistics for all drivers and all teams for each season. Plus there are 198 wonderful illustrations with beautiful color drawings of cars by Alain Baudouin. The stat charts alone will answer many questions and/or settle a lot of arguments (for example--who was the best F1 driver of 1964--hint it wasn't John Surtees) Here are some sample pages:
