At least a success, Mark, and that is, what only counts! I like these small cars, that donĀ“t hide their provenience from the 1500cc-class! (Like my last years Ferrari, too)

Mark
Well done for overcoming the hassles of the decals, it was well worth all the effort.

Graham looks different now, flatter, longer arms and torso. Or am I seeing things?

Matt, Good eye. I tried a Scalextric torso and arms with the Immense Miniatures head, but I just couldn't get the fit I needed (there wasn't much room as the motor extends 2/3s of the way through the cockpit.) I was tired of chopping off more and more rubber, and the arms were still sitting too high. So I replaced that body with a shallow resin torso that Immense Miniatures makes for both the Jim Clark and Graham Hill figures. I still had to trim it down, and I took at least 2mm out of the arms. Graham is now lying on his back, but I was hoping to give the illusion of a full body driver figure. Next year I'm doing a car with at least a 75mm wheelbase.

The Lotus is packed. I'll mail it, along with Nigel's Ferrari, later this morning. Then it's off to the lake for some R & R over the holiday weekend. My Lotus slips and slides--(I blame Chris for not letting me use the non-scale NSR tires on 15" wheels ), but if that's the extent of its problems, that will be alright with me. At this point, I'm just relieved to be finished, and only 24 hours later than my goal. Safe travels for all the cars.

Looking good Mark but I see a lot of tread on those tires. Where's the tire truer?

Jay,
The motor on the tire truer burnt out after one session! I did manage to get a little bit of rear tread off holding the tires against a piece of sand paper... not a good solution, but the best I had at the moment.
I'm leaving the old front tires as is.. If I had tried to take any of that tread off, I'd have the front end floating (an experience I don't want to repeat after last year's VRAA car flop!).
Anyway, it's too late to do anything about it now. The Lotus is somewhere between Great Falls, Montana and Southend on Sea.

We will get those tyres nicely scrubbed in for you Mark...

Thank you David... some scrubbing would be appreciated. My sand paper technique didn't work very well on the back tires and I didn't even attempt it on the old tires in the front.
My purchase of the HUDY tire truer is a story in itself, but I've already bored Ken and Jay with the recounting, so I'll just say that it was one of those purchases that falls into the category of burnt money.
