Hi guys,
Please can you advise how you remove the tiny scratches, and blemishes on vac form windscreens? I've tried polishing with products like Autoglym and the like, but they seem to stay the same, with very little improvement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Regards Jon

Jon, try the finest wet and dry paper you can find, use that then finish off with Tamiya Polishing Compound.

There are some products to polish cell phone displays, that should work, too. (In Germany, for example, you can buy them in the shops, that sell these phones)

Hi Jon, The model aircraft guys swear by "Future" floor wax (actually a thin clear acrylic)........they use it on canopies to make them appear thinner/clearer. It was a few years back that I gave it a try, and I have been truly impressed. I now use it on even brand new windscreens and it really does improve the appearance. It is remarkably self levelling, goes on very evenly and smoothly with a small brush, fills small scratches, and can be polished with Tamiya and other compounds, if you wish.
While it works really well on new and minor scratches,it will not take out major gouges/scratches,if this is the case, I would suggest some fine, polishing cloths/compound first...followed by future.
Not sure if it is Future or Pledge on your side of the pond, but I am sure some of the lads at your club will know.
Cheers Chris

Hi Chris,
In wich part of the world do they sell this product, do they also sell this product in the UK? Because they don't sell this stuff in Belgium, and I'm planing a trip to the UK, so I can have a lookout if they sell this stuff overthere.
Cheers, Danny

Cheers, Danny Hi Danny, To the best of my knowledge it is sold globally.........in the UK it is called "Pledge Multi surface wax", and is sold at all major grocery retailers. It is also sold by online retailers such as Amazon etc. If you google "The Complete Future" there is a very good article on its uses, application, removal etc. etc., done by a static modeller. Cheers Chris

The formula for this product varies from country to country, the one sold here in Australia is crap for clear coating bodies, it absorbs moisture and goes sticky after about 12 months on a car. Great thing is it easy removed using glass cleaner, then a real clear coat can be used. Static models don't get handled as often as slot cars, so it may be find for cars in show cases. As for removing scrstches in screens, method will vary depending what te screen is made from,. I used " brasso" metal polish followed by toothpaste.
