I built this Mercedes about three years ago but apart from Barry Boor driving it in practice for Earlybirds that year it has sat in a box without a motor and gears ever since.
As we were racing Earlybirds Class cars at the Southend Club this week I dug the car out of the storage box and fitted a motor, guide and gears, it won all its four heats and set the fastest lap. I wonder why I haven't raced it before....
The slot car has my scratchbuilt piano wire and brass chassis with an AB Slot "midi" motor bracket. A Slot it Flat-6 21,5000 motor. PCS Wheels. The bodyshell is a lightweight slush casting by Mac Pinches from his original Pre-Ad mould. The driver figure I made from an Airfix multipose soldier figure. David

Very nice David, That must have been a satisfying evening at the races. Is this car modeled after Hermann Lang's winner at the 1939 Pau Grand Prix? 1934-1939 Silver Arrows

You are correct Mark, it is meant to represent Lang's car.
I am always visiting that website you linked, it is a superb resource but I also have all the Chris Nixon books about Mercedes and Auto Union which are expensive but invaluable reference material.
