David,
now I´m beginning to understand, what the word scratchbuilding really means... Thank you for sharing, specially your balsa-carving is a great inspiration for me!

I always liked this Lotus, really something else. I still have an original Polistil slot car of this model. The scratch building quality is awesome, David. Hats off. Any progress on the car?
Cheers René

Rene
I haven't done any model-making for quite a while so there isn't any progress with the Lotus yet.

I can't call you that, what is your name?
When I said 2-ply plastic sheet, I should have been more specific and said that I glued two sheets of plastic together and one piece had the cut out in it to form the recess for the wing mount.

Thanks David for answering. Fond of your Lotus's like the Lotus 25, 33, 43 and 76. Also fond of the 1963 Ferrari 156. Love the 1.5 liter era.

I'm glad you like the Lotus's, you are obviously a fan of the marque like me. I agree that the halftonner era featured beautifully packaged jewel like cars driven by some of the best drivers in the history of the sport.

Hello, David,
let me say: this is scratchbuilding at its best! Exceptional handling with different materials, an excellent feeling for the shape!
On one of the pictures one can see a ruler with 1:32/1:24. Could you please tell me, where you did get it?

Taffy
That is my original 1960s scale rule and one of my most frequently used tools when building scale slot cars.
I would think they probably turn up at on ebay and would think they are fairly cheap.

One picture is visible now, on the mobile device. 😊 Will check it tomorrow on the PC. By the way, also. A lot of spam advertisement here in the forum at the moment. Best regards Thomas

Hi Chris
Nothing out of the ordinary - just the usual adverts mainly based on one's browsing history.
