Hi my name is Steve Neill and I have worked as a special makeup artist, creature maker, model builder, prop maker and visual effects artist for 40 years in the movie business. I have always loved slot cars since I was a boy in the 60s. My dad raced full sized cars as a hobby and introduced me to slot cars. For years I had fond memories of the hobby and often wondered what ever happened to it. 3years ago I rediscovered it on the net and ordered a track and a bunch of cars. But the experience was cut short when my wife of 31 years put up a battle with cancer and passed away in 2013. Now that some time has passed I have started exploring again. We started setting up a new track at my studio in Ventura California. My favorite has always been formula.i have only one Lotus at present but seeing this forum and the wonderful work here has got my creative juices flowing. At my studio I have everything know to man for making models from scratch. Lots of vacuum form machines and all kinda of molding and casting materials. I have built all kinda of Sci Fi models from scratch and RC submarines, boats and more. But a slot car? Wow I have just got to try this. Now to reacquaint myself with the suppliers and locations for materials related to build the chassies and more. I love research. We have weekly show we run on YouTube about our studio called "SNG".

Welcome Steve,
My name is Chris, I and Mark Huber Administrate this forum. It's good to have you onboard. I'm sure there are some things you can teach us about modeling, and a few techniques we can help you out with.
You'll also bump into a fellow Movie Prop Maker on this forum by the name of Marc Tyler, his forum name is Datto, use the message function and say hi. Marc manufactures drivers for these little cars, not just generic drivers, but a miniature Jim Clark, or Graham Hill, Dan Gurney, Fangio, Jack Brabham, and the list is growing....
Anyway, enjoy your time here, and we look forward to seeing some slot cars from you.
Again welcome,
Chris

Matt and Chris thank you so much for the warm welcome and kind words. I'm sure there's plenty you can teach me. Sure I can scratch build a body. Thats only the half of it. Marc's work I have seen and it's amazing. I'm pretty sure he sent me some of his work back a few years ago. I have to find those pieces he is such a great sculptor. Many of my belongings were lost of stolen in my movie from LosAngeles county to Ventura. First thing I need to do his pick a subject. I love the vintage racers the best. Up to the 60s. Not much of a fan of the newer cars. My tastes are the same for the full sized personal sports cars. I miss my spite fire, lotus and many more and hope to acquire a 64 Super Seven next year. Here's hoping. I just love the old girls. Steve

Nigel thanks so much and it's nice to meet you. I have had so many sports cars in my life. Started with a TR 3, then a MGA, followed by Alpha Romeo Veloce. Then let's see, Bug Eyed Sprite, Fiat OTS, Lotus, Europa, MGB and lastly my car I still own and drive on weekends, a 85 Nissan 300zx. But the one that got away was the Super 7. Soon...soon. Steve
