A slightly more accurate set of plans for the BRM 261 high exhaust. An it's Graham's car too! Courtesy: Model Car and Track November 1965 Mark, the plans with the pinkish background are new to me, I've just put up the model maker plans for comparison, they are similar. Compare to photo's, how about car #3 a very early 261, 15" wheels???

Mark/Chris I'm writing this without a safety net (checking my reference books) but I think the 1964 Snetterton meeting saw the introduction of the new 13" Dunlop tyres which would explain the BRM on 15" wheels - they either hadn't yet fitted the new wheels or they were testing them back to back with the old ones. David Your memory is excellent, David. I checked the Doug Nye book and yes, at Snetterton Owen Racing (and other teams) were testing the new 13" Dunlops. But, from the race report below, Hill decided to race with the older, narrower 15" tyres. Some quotes from Doug Nye and Tony Rudd: "Reigning World Champion Jim Clark running his Team Lotus Type 25 on 13 inch wheels and the latest new doughnut Dunlop tires for the first time easily took pole with Graham's 15 inch wheeled P2612 second fastest....fast running Peter Arundell running 15 inch wheels on his works Lotus clocked 1:36..." "On the Saturday (race day) morning after six hours' torrential overnight rain, the Snetterton paddock was completely waterlogged..." "McLaren has his Cooper converted from 13 inch wheels to 15s with their narrower-tread tyres to avoid aquaplaning..." "By the 5th lap, Graham Hill was holding his lead on Arundell, and Clark had dropped back to some 17 seconds behind when his (Clark's) car aquaplaned on its 13" wheels. Graham Hill failed to appear on the next lap; we were advised by Race Control that the car had gone off the road on the home straight".
