This track is a „work in progress“, I think it will give me some inspirations in the next few years...A nice place in the attic of my house... It is a 19,5m 4-lane Carrera-track combined with a routed part, that will be a „harbour area“ in the future. The idea is to create a 50-60´s road track with a „british“ atmosphere. As far as I know, there have never been road circuits on the british isle because of some governments restrictions (am I right?). But for several years, beginning in 1947, there has been a road track in St.Helier, isle of Jersey. So that´s, where my slotracing track might be located.... The track was made race-ready in the first six month of the last year. Each lane has its own stabilized power unit. Race management and lap counting is done with „racecontrol“ using the „SlotMan“- Software (http://www.slotcarmanager.de/). The track layout is simple, because I wanted to have a track to have fun even with not experienced slotracers and because its not easy to build a 4-lane track around a defined opening: This was one of the first layouts, no routed parts at that time. Building the track.... The routing is done: As a born model-railroader, for me one of the main parts is building the scenery The scenery will be built in several parts, so I can build them and put them in place step by step. Spectators parking The Grandstand The Pitbuilding and Pitlane ….and the work will be continued...

I was wondering whilst posting yesterday when you would be showing your track Taffy! It looks terrific. Very much in an old world style, great effort. Perhaps you will be holding a race there for a GPD' World Series if it ever happens. Regards Nigel

Nigel and David, thank you for your kind comments! Leisure time is very rare for me from the beginning of the new year, so it took a while, until I could begin this thread. Perhaps you will be holding a race there for a GPD' World Series if it ever happens. Nigel, who knows, what will happen in the future? ... For those, who are interested in the progress of trackbuilding in "Jersey", I will open and update a thread in the "Slotforum international" Kind regards, Taffy

Hello, Chris, thank you very much for your comment! To answer your question, it is because of this: I've noticed there's not a section where we cna see tracks that members have built. I would surmise that many of you have a track at home or your place of business as I do. At my studio. Currently back under construction, up and running but not finished. I always enjoy seeing these amazing dioramas of art and function. Would love to see a section for this topic. steve Sorry Steve The forum is called: "THE FORMULA-ONE-THIRTY-TWO SCRATCHBUILD FORUM" it's focus is on the building of true scale scratch built open wheeled formula cars, and racing them. Therefore I have to decline your request. May I recommend Slotforum, or facebook for tracks, they both have healthy successful sections on the subject. Chris that I had thought, better not to exceed this thread. But if there is any interest in this forum in the progress of my track, too, I would be very pleased, to continue with updates in both forums. (When the update is written, it is just "copy and paste"...) Best regards, Taffy

Hi Taffy.
An interesting and encouraging thread. I always enjoy seeing great scenic examples of pits, trackside or even just figures. like you my first interest was model railways, where perhaps background scenery has always been more important.
Have you looked at Danny's and Peter McKercher's threads on the Pre-War Forum?
Peter.

Hello, Peter, Have you looked at Danny's and Peter McKercher's threads on the Pre-War Forum? Yes I did, and it was a real pleasure!! I regret for not having posted a comment there, but if I would post in all places, I´m interested in, I had to spend more time in front of the computer, as I have... But the Pre-War -forum is almost in my focus!

This weekend, I have worked on the interior of the race control building, and here is the result: Most things are made of cardboard, mostly customized versions from Carrera4Fun. The desk lamp is made of Rhine stones and copper wire. The authorized personnel at work:

The entrance gate to the spectator´s parking lot looked a little bit empty, so I decided to fill it up with a motorcyclist buying a parking ticket. I had: - a tin figure of a female conductor - a motorcycle from NewRay - a MRRC-racingdriver I had to do the conversion from the standing driver to a sitting ton-up-boy, so I had to cut off his legs and to strengthen them for fitting to the bike: The conductor has got the official uniform of the circuit personnel: red jacket/ grey trousers or skirt. Here is the result:

In the paddocks of the 60´s there have always been the Dunlop racing tyre suppliers/services, so I decided to create a little scene for the Jersey circuit paddock too. It was quite simple, because one more time I could use an item from Carrera for Fun for conversion. It is the „McRace-tent“ . I like these cardboard items very much. To create the tent, it was very easy: printing the tent, glue the printed Dunlop-lettering to the „McRace“-lettering, cutting out and glue the tent roof. Again, I used straws, this time to make the tent poles. The tyre changer came from a toy kit. The tool-boxes are from Carrera4fun (at least I think so. I had downloaded it many months before) The picture is only to get a feeling for this little scene. Later this will be placed in the paddock.

Hi Taffy, all the little details are adding up to a railroad style diorama race circuit, love it. Even the motorbike rider has a familiar face to your photo! May I ask what material did you use to bring the ground up to track level. Thanks Nigel

Hello, Nigel, all the little details are adding up to a railroad style diorama race circuit yes, that is exactly, what I try to create... As explained above, I have to build the scenery in separate individual sections. As a base for these sections, I use the material of shelf backplanes (it is 3mm thick) and above I have glued grass-carpet, which is 5mm thick. So I get a thickness of 8mm, that is exactly, what I need for the Carrera track. For the pits and the paddock area I have used plasterboard. It is thicker, but it is rounded down to the edge, so it works, too (but it is heavy, of course). Even the motorbike rider has a familiar face to your photo! ..by chance.. My photo dates back to 1982, when I was the proud owner of my first vintage bike, a 1953 NSU Max, fourstroke, 250cc. The helmet is, what in Germany we call a "half-shell-helmet", in GB you call them "Cromwell-helmet", I think? Best regards,
