After a long, long summer and a warm autumn (so far), with too much heat in the attic and too many things to be done outdoors, now the work on my track will continue. This is the progress so far: The next step to be done is to build the landscape on the left side of the track. As you know, I try to do the scenery works in „sections“. So I had to make paper templates to cut the base plates out of thin plywood: A service flap is needed, it is fixed with piano hinges: The next thing was to cut out the left and right tunnel portals and the walls for the courtyard in the „Pinkerton´s area“. I took a piece of chipboard for this: Basic paint is in red-brown again: The gate and the fence for the Courtyard walls are made of wooden stirrers. Weathering is done very easy with the „swamp“ of the brush cleaning glass. There will be more „life“ in the courtyard by barrels and crates, that have to be added later. Next thing is to continue with the landscape. As shown before, I take styrofoam for the rocks, painted in two tones of color. The tunnel is ready: All parts in their final position: The border between „grass“ and „street“ is made of deco granulate, that I have painted in the same color as the street. One more part of the landscape is ready and decorated…. To be continued…..

The next update: There will be a little farm, so a barn and a farmhouse have to be built. I used the T102 „Farmhouse and barn“ from Scalescenes . The barn is upscaled for a certain height, because it later shouldn´t disturb the view to the racetrack. So, unfortunately the printed tiles are a little bit small. I started with the side- and frontwalls: The wooden parts of the front and the two doors are made of the wooden stirrers described above ( Ihad ordered a pack of 1000 for a few Euros…) Here you can see the first adjustment of the roof. The ground is strewn with straw, that I have grinded with an electric coffee mill. The ready barn with a cart to assess the size:

Lovely detail, makes me wish I had more scenery space on mine...

I wish you all a Happy New Year! It has taken a while since my last update and I apologize for that. There wasn´t much time to continue my works on the track. The last weeks, I had to tidy up the trackroom, because of the first „official“ race, that took place yesterday. Two friends of mine and me had fun all the day racing our open wheelers: As expected, the harbour chicane was a place of heavy action: It was a very good day for us with lots of races…. Well, what is the progress on the track itself? I have finished the landscape on the service flap: Then I have built an additional press/TV-tower using a holiday-souvenir: The „amateur“-team will be changed by some professionals (that have to be painted first)…. The area behind the pits looked a little bit empty, so I added some motorcycle racers preparing for the next race: On the right side of the track I have finished the harbour promenade with some printed paving, streetlights and a victory Monument: But as you can see, there remain many things to be done….:

Hi Taffy
Looks better and better every time you post! I'm just waiting to see the water and yachts in the harbour!
Best Regards

Such beautiful work is magical - I feel transported in time and space to a miniature universe set in the 1960's.
Lovin' the Rip Snorter tearing through the paddock!

David and Matt, thank you for your kind comments! David, the harbour area has to wait a little bit because of the accessability. First I have to complete the "farm"-area with the farmhouse, hedges, gates, machinery and animals, then I have to build the garage-building that will complete the harbour buildings and the last thing before starting my works on the right side of the track will be to make the harbour basin. Matt, I try to do my best to create this atmosphere...:-). Do you mean that with "Rip snorter": There are a few "Mattel" survivors from my youth time, this one fits good, I think. I´m thinking about repainting it, but I tend to leave it original as it is, even, if this looks a bit more toylike... From one of the other bikes, I have another driver like this, may be, I will repaint it and change it with the original one. What do you mean?

Yep, that Rip Snorter. My favorite motorcycle in the Hot Wheels range. I've never seen one with a detailed rider, it might look pretty good.

Matt, thank you. I have decided to paint the figure! Chris, I´m very impressed by the prices of these little toys! I had to look for my other "Rrrumblers" immediately, and indeed, after a while I have found them: And I have brought them back to where they belong: my little collection of model scooters and motorcycles

Nice collection of motorcycles...and RRRumblers. And you still have the Track-Rack for them!

Yes, Matt, after making the fotos of my Rrrumblers I have found the racks, too. I´m only missing two of them. The track itself, however, has passed away....

Well, gents, the driver has got his classic black racing suit. Now you have to decide, if it was worth to reach into the paint pots (I think, it was..)
