Grand Prix/Vintage F1 fan here. My driver heros are Mike Hawthorne, Sterling Moss, Alberto Ascari, Jim Clark, Peter Collins, Jackie Stewart and the list goes on. A guy I worked with way back when, his mother was married to the Marquis de Portago (Fon). Thats a tenuous connection I know but I'll take it.
I've been into slots for about 8 years and got around 200 cars (maybe 15 are 1/24) but never built anything other than putting an HRS chassis under a plastic body. But I'm going to try to broaden my horizons now. Probably a Penelope Pitstop or a Beardog chassis with a resin body from somewhere to start.
I'm a graphic artist by trade and have been doing that for 31 years now. It's been quite a few years since I've drawn for pleasure however. Along the same lines, I collect limited edition WWII aviation prints, RAF and Douglas Bader in particular. I'm also building a 1:1 Supermarine Spitfire - actually, I collect instrument panel gauges, gun cameras and bits and pieces of shot down Spitfires...
I build models of all kinds in all scales. For fun I autox a '95 BMW M3 and soon I'm adding a Active Autowerks supercharger to it. That should effectively double the horsepower and fun factor. My other ride is an 05 WRX wagon.
Anyway, this looks to be a great forum. I'll try to contribute.

Hi tangmere, I have just bought a book about the Marquis de Portago by Ed McDonough, looks like a very interesting read. Welcome aboard. Regards Nigel
