I built this Lotus 56 in about 2005 for the Pendle Convention that celebrated Charlie Fitzpatrick's 50th anniversary of his slot car business - where would so many slot car enthusiasts have been without him over the years.
Obviously I used a Classic fibreglass bodyshell although I did make loads of alterations and additions.
I also built this 56 about 8 years ago. With this slot car I used a standard Classic shell without alterations. It depicts the car that Jim Clark tested at Indianapolis just a couple of weeks before his death.
The car ran with minimal signwriting and without mirrors and with Halibrands prior to Lotus fitting their usual style of wheels.
