Chris, all I can add, is, that as far as I remember, the "master" for my resin cast was a body made of a dark green, old plastic material. A friend lent it to me several years ago to make the cast. The material might have been from the 60´s. Did "Super Shells" make an P578?

It wouldn't have been a Supershell's, that body is very specific with it's casting, having a very tight area where the gear goes. Below is my supershells BRM, with a shortened nose and the stack-pipe option.

The mystery has been solved: I had asked the friend, who had lent me the body of the BRM. He looked for it in his stock, and he has just called me back. He is sure, that it is a glass-fibre-body made by Autohobbies! (A british brand , that I didn´t know before)

Taffy,
there was also a company on Finsbury Pavement, London, called Automodels. They did slot racing supplies and their own kits in white metal, 1/24th scale called Auto-Kits, produced by Wills Finecast and STILL made by South Eastern Finecast.
Auto-Models may have done a P 578 in 1/32nd scale but I very much doubt it will have been glass-fibre in those days. More likely nice clean accurate vac-formed.

This web page has a list of the Auto Hobbies bodies including the BRM - you need to scroll a fair way through the blog to find it! slotblog.net/topic/40860-bob-braverman/ . Were they produced in the UK? I admit I'd never heard of them before. Best Regards David

Hoho, Bob Braverman, there's a name from the past. Clearly American made and very nice, by the looks of them. I'd love some of those these days. Thanks for the link David.

Thank you David! Here is the direct link: AutohobbiesI had found it yesterday evening too, but it was too late to post... Martin, as you can see, it really is a fibreglass-shell!

Yes it is, and equally yes it's American, not British. Very nice too!
