I wouldn't use P38, John as it's way too coarse grained and I don't use Tamiya anything as I can't get it round here. JB Weld, I would use for mending or gluing, but not filling. With a bit of heat, Milli will go off hard in under a half hour and you really should have something else lined up to do while that cooks. I don't regard that as multi-media really. In Germany they had epoxy fillers which were like liquid Ureol, but they can't be had over here. If drawings weren't such crap generally, I wouldn't have needed it! But I have no problem with it. I can mix it and put it on while watching telly, to be sociable, cook it and put it aside without moving from my seat!
Cheers, Martin

I do have some Milliput and some Green stuff but tend to reach for the other things first. I also agree that having a few different pots boiling at the same time can be advantageous.

I am amazed at the sound of some of the early (30's) engines....crisp, barking, mean sounding. A varied and interesting clip. Martin.

I must say, the 25 surprised me. I'd have liked to have heard it with a toe up its bum a bit though. If yer gonna run it, run it like it was meant to go. The straight 8 is a very odd noise. Listen to Bugattis for instance. And with no need for a flywheel, they stop instantly when the ignition is switched off.

Ken, I have had a worsening cold for over a week and whilst I do a bit each day, it gets less! Today it comprised painting the Capri to go to Steve for slush moulding with the Invicta and putting the first RS 19" wheel together, finding the etches all need a slight adjustment to the a/w and pissing off both me and Colin.
But that's the problem with etching now. I am not allowed to send them pen artwork, which has never ever been wrong in over 40 years. The first time someone else very kindly computer-draws it, it doesn't fit. This has put Colin in a worse mood than already and caused thoughts of kicking it all into touch. This is not the first time recently I have heard such thoughts expressed and it's what WILL kill this game.
So, beware folks. Sorry to effectively hijack your thread Ken, but progress on the W25 has been made to some extent, but slowed by this damned cold.
Half the day I'm sleeping, because most of the night I'm coughing.

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...to sleep, perchance to dream......
Thanks, Ken. Tonight I painted a new RS wheel so the spokes would show and finished the sculpting of a Gonzales-like figure for the V-16BRM. Now, I'm going to watch Jonathon Creek. G'night all.

OK, sun's out, so some half decent pics of the W25. Just found some suitable sized rod to turn to a slight taper one end, soften and bend into an exit curve. One strip of louvres done and temporarily fitted, other side of bodywork carved. Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin Looking good! The vents are presumably made from Evergreen or other plasticard? Evergreen doa. Range of textured finishes and i'm sure they would do a sheet with ribs in which cut simply be cut to size for these sorts of inserts. Would save you cutting in and provide some thing even more accurate in terms of straightness.

No, Andi, none of those textured plastics have the right look. This panel is only temporary as stated. I'd cut the recess already and just wanted to fill it with something for the pictures. More shaping to do before I'm happy with the overall look, but thanks for your response. One can always reckon on at least three or four forumites to respond! Whether that's worth the endless paraphernalia of using photobucket or not, the jury is still out.
Cheers, Martin

Thank you for the update Martin, Photobucket can be a pain to work with. I think you are getting along fine with this project. Glad you are feeling better.
Cheers Ken

It's magical how a piece of motorsport history emerges from a block of wood. I'm enjoying watching this.

Hi Martin, nice work. What do you use to cut your shut lines? I've always used a 45 deg chisel point but always interested in what others use.
