Hi All, I am wanting to get the wheels on my cars to be of some sort of standard size for the period(61-68).
Looking through what is available and what I have and what would be scale appropriate I find a confusion of sizes.
When I measure for what I think is appropriate I come to the conclusion only Dart/BWA really have the scale size that is totally correct.
Offerings from slot it NSR ppitlane etc etc all seem too big, then there is the added ridge in the middle of most makes to make tyre choice even more of a problem. Not to mention, inserts.
May I request your thoughts and solutions to choices of wheels available.
Thanks and Regards Nigel

Nigel: D'art / BWA no longer stock suitable wheels. Slot Car Corner do have some narrow wheels in Scale 14" and 15" rsslotracing have wheels VERY similar to BWA that should suit. Phil

Yes RS is where to go.

Another vote for RS from me, Nigel. They also have wheel inserts. I find Paul Gage very helpful in finding the right tyres - send him the wheel dimensions and he'll tell you which of his tyres are suitable. George Turner has some very nice wheel inserts but they may need reducing in diameter a little for some wheels - not difficult even by hand.
Best Regards
David

Thanks David Andi and Phil, I checked the site and they do look like a good alternative, but I couldn't find tyres recommended for
them, which was unhelpful. So thanks David for the tip about Paul Gage who I have used for tyres before and found very helpful.
I am surprised by the difference in description of the size of the wheels by manufacturers, for 13 inch as an example which can vary from just over 11mm (which is what I think would be right), to 16mm for the 15 inch wheels, (which should be more like 13mm).
When people take so much care to get rivets on the body and suspension detail so precise it seems odd that we are prepared to accept
such variations in a major part of the package.

Remember that 13" is the tyre internal diameter on a real car so add around two inches to get the wheel external diameter. So 15" x 25.4mm / 32 is what you need. So about 11.9mm by my calculation. Andi

Yes agreed Andi, but some advertised wheels are much bigger, and full sized wheels I have measured usually are about 1.5 inches extra on the diameter. Regards Nigel
