I have experience with the solarbotics and have never found a way to overcome the lack of torque.... Large crowns would possibly work but not in the cars I build!

Although not easy to find, there are some 80DP crowns and pinions that will allow short (er) gearing - 4:1 or higher - in tight spaces.

I tried a couple of Mitsumi and found they were only around 13,000RPM , What do yours rev at? The Solarbotics at least rev around 22,000 so can be geared around 3:1 for some reliability.

Thanks Phil...I havent put one on my tach yet but was being lazy and asking for others thoughts. The Solarbotics motors are a fun motor. I havent had one pop or let the smoke out yet.

Thanks Peter, I will have to test one in a car now. After Phil k's info I think I will use a 9 or maybe 10 tooth pinion and go from there.
