The cars have been sent onwards to Chris Walker in Toronto for Round 3 at his home Boxbury track. Chris intends to take a detailed look at the construction vs. performance characteristics of each car and give us his thoughtful analysis. I'm wincing already... The race itself will be run late in the week of October 9th. Thomas and Dale, I loosened up the rear body screws of your cars per your instructions before forwarding them to Chris. Stewart

Thomas and Dale, I loosened up the rear body screws of your cars per your instructions before forwarding them to Chris. Stewart Steward, thank you very much for your support. I‘m looking forward to the next race. I‘m more than interested to learn more about the construction-performance analysis although I do strongly believe that the drivability is connected more to the perfect finish of the chosen setup. Best regards, Thomas

Ok, Masa Roja was a Ninco plastic track (anyone's guess what tire was going to work on that) and Courville looked like it was much more like racing a commercial track (surface reportedly favoring silicon). From what one can tell from the description, Boxbury is more like the common Racing surface of most home wood tracks and the majority of the venues to come. We 'll see if the NSR shod Honda can continue it's dominance. To me, this next race could tell the tail. My personal prediction is that the number 4 Lotus start to shine, but then again, I'm the one who expected an all brass front motored chassis to do well against a gaggle of 3D printed Trans Am cars in another unnamed proxy series, so.....

Oh dear, Chris's car is likely to suit his track!! Well Andi, considering the car did all its testing on my track, you may be right... Having said that, I do expect many of the cars to run very well here. I do expect urethanes to go well here (all our club races/testing are done on urethanes), and the flat latex surface is definitely the most urethane friendly surface so far. I do build/test "rubber" tire cars on my track, and they also perform very well, so, we shall see. As there are no points for qualifying positions, I personally plan to drive the cars for the qualifying/test session, and give them a good "eyeballing" with the goal of providing perhaps a little more comprehensive performance/build review. I will not be driving in the actual race. Good luck to all!! Cheers Chris Walker

Hello Folks, The cars arrived today (Oct. 2nd), and although I have not yet opened the box, it appears to be in very good shape, so, I am not anticipating any transit damage. I am leaving tomorrow for a few days holiday (back Oct. 10th), and I/we will complete qualifying/racing/reporting by the end of that week. Happy Thanksgiving to all.....try not to eat/drink too much Cheers Chris Walker

Well folks, Since I am not leaving until tomorrow, I could not resist opening the box, and giving the little gems a run !!!......so I spent the afternoon inspecting, taking notes, and qualifying/testing the cars. A few notes........ My track is an Ogilvie routed track, with recessed braid (10 thou.), is painted with flat latex (urethane friendly), and was run at 10.5 volts for this session. I used a Difalco controller adjusted to meet the needs of each car, and I ran 20/30 laps with each car (same lane). I gave each car a good eyeballing, placed each on a tech block, and took lots of notes/measurements of every car (bodies left on). I will post car by car observations next week, after the race has been run.......I found lots of things that should help in future builds. Each car was taken from its container, the braid/tires cleaned, and placed on the track. The cars in action.......... The Grid..........cars positioned in random order. Downhill into the hairpin....it has a slight squeeze. (The drivers for the race are all very familiar with this !!) Out of the tunnel....pit entrance on the left (drivers right) Slipstreaming down the main straight. Qualifying results are as follows.. # 4 Lotus............(3.701) #69 Ferrari.........(3.899) #47 Honda.........(3.916) #1 Brabham.......(3.918) #13 BRM............(4.021) #14McLaren.......(4.037) #36 Eagle..........(4.070) #17 Cooper........(4.078) #6 Eagle............(4.091) #19 McLaren.....(4.107) #11 Eagle...........(4.110) #23 Honda........(4.134) #7 BMW............(4.154) #2 Ferrari..........(4.191) #5 Lotus...........(4.298) Cheers Chris Walker

Chris Nice photos and a great looking track - have a good break and looking forward to more news / updates when you get back. Really like the way you clustered the cars - would love to see more of the track as well.

EM Hi Al, There are a few things that I noticed on you car (and others) that when addressed will reduce this gap considerably. I will provide specifics in my car by car observations next week......placings 5 through 9 are all in the 4.0 to 4.1 range.....separated in total by .054 sec. Cheers Chris Walker

Ouch indeed Andi. Nearly 0.5 seconds adrift over a 3- 4 second lap - disaster. I'm going to be very interested in Chris' evaluation of my car. Thanks for the photographs Chris and for fitting in running the cars before your vacation - have a great time.
Best Regards
David

Best Regards David Hi David, There are a few simple fixes/set up adjustments that will have both your and Andi's car closer to the top.......this actually holds true for a number of cars. From my perspective, several of the cars had easy to fix issues, issues which certainly limit their performance. I have taken lots of notes on each car, and have taken photos to illustrate the issues where possible. Unfortunately, as this will be a lengthy post, I do not have the time to create this until my return next week. Happy Thanksgiving!! Cheers Chris Walker
