Well gentlemen the cars have arrived at Canfield Green for round 4. I will be unpacking them and running the qualifications early this coming week, and expect to run the heats next weekend. I will be sure to add a write up on the cars and any qually issues found on the Green. Then The race will follow suit with a full report , and pictures for those like me that enjoy them. Bob

Well Gents, Finally a clear morning with sunny skies and dry track at Canfield Green permitted the qualification round to be run. First off I must commend you all on the wonderful builds , they are masterpieces to be sure. Each car had it's own little characteristics , but overall were very drivable. The Cars were all inspected prior to qually and given some practice laps so I could get used to the Car. I then checked the braids, and cleaned the tires before qualification. Each car was run in numerical ascending order from 1 to 69. Voltage was 10.5 and the middle lane was used. Some 90 feet per lap. PM controller with brake and sensitivity adjustments was used for all cars. So here we go with 1st to 15th Car # Time name 69 8.087 MAREK
4 8.231 CHRIS
23 8.353 BOB
47 8.367 TERRY
19 8.396 MARC
36 8.423 ALAN
14 8.452 VAL
13 8.455 BRIAN
7 8.524 THOMAS
17 8.742 RICHARD
11 8.864 ANDREW
6 9.051 DALE
2 9.180 DAVID
5 9.199 PETER
1 9.379 STEWART
And there you have it . I will try and post some pics of the session a bit later Bob

Thanks Bob. Congrats to Marek on his pole position for the Grand Prix. I guess that 25K V12 was able to really stretch its legs on the Canfield Green straightaways! Good to see the Championship contenders qualifying so close together as well. Here are Bob's car impressions in his own hand. Stewart

Great track and photos - thanks. It's good to be in the top half at least for now. One question - a word that recurs in the notes: "pendulum?" meaning?
Thanks EM

The pendulum effect of a car coming out of a corner after braking and upon acceleration. Similar to the pendulum effect on an old clock which goes from side to side, whereas on a slot car sideways movement in the direction of the g force is acceptable but a return as close to the center point is better than a return past the center point. In other words , the quicker the tail returns to a straight line the better .
