The R type project has progressed far enough to expect it to be completed, so it's perhaps time to gauge interest.
It is hoped that in the first few months of 2018 John will have the body and associated parts for casting, and by then, I will have the photo etched parts.
A total of 20 kits to the full spec are planned; these will include photo etched parts and a wheel kit. Subsequent to this, the kit will be available with all the etched parts included in the body casting, without wheels.
The kit is being offered (provisionally) to F1 members only, but there is a catch. Priority will be given to members with 100+ posts since joining and at least 10 posts in the last year. After this the goalposts will move.
5 kits are now spoken for.
Updates will be posted on this thread, an addition to the build updates in the pre-war section.
I must apologise for any tardy responses as my mind is a little distracted in other directions these days.
Peter.

M.G. Type R A little encouragement to members who have no idea of what this car looks like. Apparemtly very advanced in it's day. (I didn't have a clue).

It appears that I meet the specifications and, accordingly, ask to be allowed to join the list.

Interesting photo but I'm left wondering what it is. The body and suspension certainly look like the R - type but it is the only photo that I can find that has the exhaust on the right side!

It would appear that this may be the explanation:
"One of only eleven R types, and one of only three with the optional McEvoy/Pomeroy DOHC head. This ex works car was reputedly the first 750cc car to exceed 100 mph. Southward Car Museum, Paraparaumu NZ."

EM Almost Al, but it seems not quite. www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/january-1941/12/twin-cam-mg-midgetIt's also worth looking at the 'correction' letter which refers to an earlier article/letter. The Parnell K3 mentioned still exists. Peter.

Looked at the article...My take-away is that it is indeed an R type although some of the details of provenance/history my be less than completely accurate.
I can't stop thinking about that sensual exhaust system and the modeling challenge it poses. Now all that is needed is a good view of the bulge, presumably accommodating the blower, on the left side.
