Ferrari 312B Jacky Ickx Spa 1970 Pre-Wing Kit Policar chassis and motor. I've obtained Policar wheels, but the Policar 1970 alloy hubs I bought are to big for the inserts. Recommendations would be greatly received. This may take some time. BR. Brian

REALLY looking forward to see this Brian.
In 1970 only Dunlop shod cars had 13" rears. I might be able to help you with some inserts if you are interested.....
Sadly the pattern maker of this kit was not aware of that. I helped him and Mel with the body shape and size (after Mel sent me a test mould) so hopefully that is not too far off.
Cheers Andi

I think the inserts were revised to a smaller size....I better go look at my moulds/inserts and check.
Good luck on this one Brian, I have a feeling it will turn out very well.

Well I took the plunge and made a start on Jacky's Ferrari. I took the plunge a cut the engine off. Hope I do not live to regret this move. Much to do. Thanks for looking. BR. Brian

Update. Jacky is in the driving seat. I've been messing around with the rear spoiler in an attempt to get the look right. Brian

I've been messing about with suspension detail for days, putting off the engine detail. Here's where I'm at as of today. I made a box section for the engine and exhaust detail to connect to. I then made the engine block, fitting boot lace ferrules for the intakes and made the drilling's for the spark plugs. Doesn't seem much but it took me a while.

Some very precise modelling there Brian. I'm sure this will become a very neat finished model. Apart from the pleasure of making your own, what were the drivers behind cutting the engine detail off? Best wishes Andi

Hi Andi,
Exhaust detail was the reason for the shell butchery, I want a clean finish. Took a gamble, but so far so good.
Plus it pushes my modelling skills.
Thanks for the interest.

Great work Brian. Its very good to see how your skills have developed since your first scratch build of the Matra MS10. Your'e inspiring me to get on with the 312B I have sitting on my shelf(ves!) of projects yet to be started. I think you've taken the right approach with the engine/exhaust detailing. Here are a couple of photographs which may help - apologies if you have them already. Best Regards David

Taking my time. Doing a bit, sleeping on it and revisiting. Other projects have helped. Engine detail is coming together, exhaust work may start tomorrow. Engine to rub down and prime. Air scoops to work on and thinking of changing the aerofoil mount. BR. Brian
