John has the '38 Maserati 8CTF, and I think the 39 variant too. If not, drop me a line John....
Other cars?
Airfix;
Bentley (in the formula libre period) Bugatti
Matchbox;
Bugatti Mercedes SSKL (formula libre) Auto Union.
Peter.

I got a Mercedes W125 and an Auto Union C from John a few years ago, I imagine those would still be available. John's casts seem lighter than some of the others, but still have really good detail. This thread has been enough to get me planning my next build(s), even if we don't yet have a proxy host...!

Wow, I had forgotten I did those shells. They were good light weight shells but the detail wasn't that good. The grills on the merc were little off as I used the Airfix shell as a base.

Hi Stu,
That's a question to ask David Lawson, he's an admin on Slotforum.
(he got fed up with Martin Field here, and left in a tantrum).

That's a pity. Davids' knowledge of GP/F1 is incredible. His posts were always an education, especially for us young blokes. I hope he finds his way back here someday! Dave Jones has some bodies to suit this era if they are still available

Apologies if I've missed it in the various Prewar proxy threads - Is there a list of the eligible cars that is broken down by classification as either "Voiturette" or "GP Car"? Matt

John, what years are we covering?

1939 and previous years....
I am also wondering where the Brookland and or indy cars fit in and any other early racers.
As the main ingredient is "FUN" I dont want to be too prescriptive and how many potential builders/entrants are there going to be? All six of us?

Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself???
Is this proxy a sure thing, or should I wait for a bit yet before I start ordering parts? And will it be open to all, or is it invitation only? If a commitment from prospective participants would help greenlight the proxy, then count me in.
I've planned to build the 1938 ERA E-Type for a while now but was not going to use an FF motor. Would the ERA E-Type be eligible for the GP class?

At 2 litres supercharged, the E type (Chassis # GP-1) was over the voiturette limit (1500cc supercharged) so I assume that it would have run in the GP class.

Well I have started to look at a car for each class...
so far I have a Maserati 4CL for my voiturette class and a John bacon(genuine) Auto Union Type C for my GP car. Things are at the get the parts and see if they fit stage.
For the 4CL I will used a modified PP slimline chassis and a scratch chassis for the AU. Early days though.

A guy at our club is very keen to enter this series but he’s not a scratch-builder. Does anyone have a suitable car they could maybe sell or lend him?
