Hi John I want to try this as well Thomas from Germany. Mercedes W165 from 1939.
EDIT: I'm not sure if this car should start in the Voiturette class?

Hiya John. Sign me up for an Auto Union in the GP class. I'lll have to do some more thinking regarding the Voiturette class choices before nominating an entry.

Whilst I suspect that it is to be hoped that entrants will build cars for the event, I don't think I'll have time. Is it acceptable to modify an existing scratchbuilt car (to comply with regulations) instead?
Peter.

Of course Peter...submitting a car that meets the rules is all that matters.

The 1500cc W165 should be considered a voiturette based on the rules of the era. In appearance, it is hard to distinguish from the 1938 W154/163 but is significantly smaller:
W165 WB/Track F/Track/R 96.5" 52.8" 50.4"
W154/163 WB/Track F/Track/R 107.5" 58.1" 55.6"

Helo EM, thank you for this information. The W165 has been a relatively small car. To my knowledge the W165 has been only around 370 cm long which is around 146 inches. I found the same wheelbase of 245cm or 96.5 inches. Sorry for beeing stuck in the metric world. I'm still evaluating the correct bluebprint because I want to start this car from scratch. Best regards Thomas

Make my entry in the GP class a Bugatti, probably T59. Just possibly a K3 MG Magnette in the voiturette class.
Peter.
