I would guess that few people knew about these, I have a prototype wheel somewhere, but did not ever make a set up. A bit of history. Originally there were beaded edge tyres with wheels to suit. sites.google.com/site/peters132wirewheels/not-all-wire-wheels-are-the-sameThe same page shows the other wheels of course. Between the beaded edge type and the well base type were the straight sided wheels/tyres. These are the wheels I will see about finishing next. The picture shows the 1924 Alfa Romeo P2. Not totally old fashioned, as they will no doubt still be seen on a few commercial vehicles from the 1980s/1990s. These wheels will be seen on many cars of the mid/late 1920s including Indy cars. Note the 'grooved' section of the rim and also, just in view, the clip at the bottom of the wheel (as seen) which holds the outer rim in place. Since I have one of Marlon's P2s, I'll be building a set up in due course. Four sets at the most I suspect, but I need to check. Peter.
