Hi all,
I’m hoping someone on here can enlighten me on the conversion of “pitch” to “module”.
For instance, is 0.5 module anywhere close to 48 pitch? I’m looking at pinions from China but they quote only in module, so I need a translation.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Peter, There are many conversion charts/formulas online, that explain the conversion calculation........google "module to pitch"
.5 module equates to 50.8 pitch, which while close, will not give you a very good mesh with a standard 48P gear.
Bear in mind that most of the gears used in todays' 1/32 cars (and most of what you see here) utilize .5 module gears. Slot-it.NSR, Scaleauto, MRSlotcar, Scalextric etc. all use .5 module gears,(pinions/Crowns/Spurs), and, in todays market, .5 module is the accepted "norm" for current 1/32 cars. This finer pitch obviously translates to a smaller overall diameter for a given number of teeth,.......a benefit for the smaller 1/32 cars
If you are in fact looking for 48P gears,(pinions/Crowns/Spurs) they are available from most good slotshops, as some current 1/24 and vintage 1/32 cars do use them. PCH Slot parts is one that certainly carry them.

Thanks very much for this enlightenment, Chris. Very much appreciated.
I had had googled and found the charts and formulae you mentioned. But the calculations were beyond me.
What I simply wanted to know was whether or not the pinions I sourced would mesh with SlotIt crowns . Your answer was perfect. I’ll now buy them.
Thanks again, Peter
