HI Sorry to be so quiet for so long. Due to family and work issues, I got a very late start on this car. I knew I would have to neglect something so the driver and cockpit .. and finish of the body are marginal at best. Car is on the way to you Jay .. but not even track tested. Talk about last minute. My 1967 Ferrari 312 Charlie Fitzpatrick body Scale Auto "Yellow" long can I don't remember the correct designation MRRC hypoid gears. I think I have Ranch Design wheels on the rear and BWA on the front. MRRC guide RB Motion and Scale Hardware bits and pieces for the suspension The exhausts are from a Carrera donor car .. slightly modified .. but I never would have gotten the car done in time otherwise. MCW Ferrari 50'-60s red paint. The driver was supposed to be Michael Parkes, but I did run out of time on him.. Great pictures of the other cars gentlemen. Love the detail work! All my very best Charles Attachments:

Charles
That is a beautiful looking slot car which has completely captured the "look" of the original car.

Charles' car has arrived and it is a beauty.
Upon inspection I noticed the left front wheel is locked up and the lower suspension arm has broken free at the solder joint where it was attached to the chassis.
I'll work with it tonight, gently, to see if I can free up the wheel.

HI Everyone
thanks for the compliments .. Jay ... thanks for working on the car. I would recommend super gluing the front suspension arm ... that should work. And the wheel on that side was a bit sticky when I sent it .. gentle turning should do the trick. The wheel is held on by a screw into a tube. But it is all rather fiddly and not real secure to be honest. Thanks so much for attending to this.
all my very best

Jay
Don't worry if the left wheel is not absolutely free. Stuck is bad, but it may not be able to spin as freely as the right one.
all my very best
Charles
PS Michael Parkes will just have to adjust his driving.

Charles, I have the wheel turning pretty good now. I plan on putting just a dab of JBWeld on the suspension and that should hold it just fine.

Jay, The BRM just before it left the station (er, pit lane?). I didn't break a drive shaft, (BRM's introduction at Silverstone 1950) but the body post snapped off the other day (better in testing than a race, I suppose). That necessitated a last minute fix and the inevitable wait for the JB Weld to set. I should have dusted the car before this last picture, but I can't see the dust, even with my reading glasses in place. Amazing how those specks show up only in the digital pictures! And, Jay .. it was working when I packed it. (Private joke... )

That is a lovely piece of work, Mark. I particularly like the way you have painted the wheels. They look like an "all in one piece" forged wheel, not a turned aluminum wheel with an insert. Beyond that, the overall presentation is very very good. Well done!

This is the Eagle – sort of: Actually, an old photo of the Eagle as it was about seven years ago and, despite my best intents, exactly the way it looks today. I had every intention of doing a ground-up restoration and rebuild particularly focusing on the cockpit. It was my intent to grind out the cast in driver figure and do a complete dashboard, instruments, wheel and separate driver construction. Unfortunately, that was not to be. The chassis did receive little attention. The front and rear track needed to be narrowed to meet the specification and the rear wheels and tires changed. Beyond that, I installed a new motor (I think the old one had 50+ hours on it) and changed the gear ratio. I am keeping my fingers crossed on the gearing. The original arrangement used steel pinion and a bronze Sonic gear. I decided that I needed to go 3 to 4 teeth up on the pinion. I could not find any in my parts box that would mesh with the Sonic gear. I changed the whole thing out for a new set that uses a plastic crown gear. I do not have a lot of faith in it and am hoping that it will last three races! Looking at the photos of the entrants so far, it is clear that there are no concours points to be had so I can only hope that it is well behaved on the track. EM

Beyond that, the overall presentation is very very good. Well done! EM Well, I did paint the wheels. They were originally gold as I had thought about making a Ferrari.. months ago. However, these wheels are indeed one piece forged aluminum wheels, CB Design available from Slot Car Corner, and Professor Motor (if memory serves me correctly) www.slotcarcorner.com/Wheels/CB-Design-Wheels/5-Spoke-Racing-Wheels-p466.htmlI followed your advice about running in the gears.. I think my underpowered car will last 3 races. It has a Ranch Design Aluminum crown gear, a brass pinion.. geared at 8/24. I don't expect it will be setting any speed or lap records on either Grand Loop III or Matt's Monza!

The Eagle has landed. EM's wonderful Eagle has arrived but my photobucket account is acting up so I'll post a picture later.
Charles' front suspension has been repaired thanks to the magical JB Weld and should up fine.
