A note re the VRAA entries (this might not apply to the GPdG cars) 6 Hondas, 5 Coopers, 4 Brabhams, 4 Porsches 19 out of 20 entries 95% In 1961-5 those marques accounted for 5 of the 47 F1 Championship wins. 11% 1 Lotus, 0 BRMs 0 Ferraris... 1 out of 20 entries 5% 1961-5 those marques accounted for 42 of the 47 F1 Championship wins. 89% for EM: I would suggest that based on the above successful 1:1 prototypes make mediocre 1/32 slot cars (at least in the half tonner world) and vice versa. Please run the stats at the end of the season....

Could of course just be that everyone's made BRM's, Lotus and Ferraris in the past and wanted something different? Or is there a new Honda body available? ?? Lovely by the way! Andi

It's great to see the effort that every one makes, to take part and organize these races. I definitely enjoy all the efforts and the participants here on this forum, and hope to see more of this in the future, perhaps someone can persuade me to build a Post war F1 racer and take part ;D Congratulations to all the winners and the unlucky ones, your all top Cheers, Danny

I did some warm up laps with the GPdeG cars this morning after running warm up laps with the VRAA cars. Only two car were able to eclipse the times of the fastest VRAA cars. Marks car was the first one and Taffy's car bested marks time. I will lube the gears and baby Tony's car for both qualifying and the race. The combination of high downforce, slow corners and super soft rear tires have the car really loaded up. Al's car is a treat to run blip the throttle and coast to the next corner and hope it stops. . . Here are some shots of the track with 30 feet of turns and 15 foot of straights.

The Eagle is contesting the "Index of Performance" trophy awarded to the car that consumes the fewest watt – seconds of electricity in the course of the race.

All the "on time" of the throttle on your car is by far the shortest of any of the cars entered. If there was a coast from speed contest you would be the hands down winner. The better news is that your VRAA car runs decently with no issues. . .

Well that doesn't sound like a recipe for the #12 Honda to make up 8 points in the championship hunt. In fact that recipe is beginning to smell like the current position of the Honda could very well be in jeopardy. Where's that wobbly front wheel when you need it?

Andi Andi, I think most of the VRAA Honda's are using Dave Jones 1964 RA 271 shell. That shell has been available for some time. However Lim's Honda was crafted by a friend of his, and Jay's RA272 is a much modified vintage VIP shell. I think the pariticpants favor those white cars because they are so darn fat (I mean wide) in the rear. The position of the cockpit--at least on the Dave Jones shell--also makes it relatively easy to fit a full body driver in the car even with an FF 050 motor. Cheers.

Jay Well Jay, there's always the possibility (probably very real) that the front wheel (s) will fall off my car. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my BRM will limp through the final race without falling apart. Taffy seems to have built the car for all seasons.. it smokes everyone on Matt's speedway and negotiates Ken's twister the quickest. And, it's the best looking of the bunch..

Puhhh.... can you hear my heartbeat across the ocean? If I would stay at the track, triggering my forefinger, I couldn´t be more nervous than I am now, thousands of miles away!
BTW: Ken, could you please check, if the front axle of the Ferrari might need a few drops of oil? Instead of being fast in the warm up rounds, my experience in testing the car at home was, that a lack of lubrication will slow down the car by and by, because the front axle doesn´t have real bushings, but only runs in the chassis. (I hope, you understand what I mean, excuse my bad english, please) . Thank you!
Best regards, Taffy

And if a few drops of oil get on the super grippy rear tires that will be ok as well.

Hello Taffy
I would be afraid to oil the front axle since it may be the drag that the car has to entering the bus stop turn at speed that gets the low lap times. Maybe the drag in the front axle is acting like front brakes. I drove your car at the second race and just loved it. I hope it does well on my track.
The dark horse in the group is the BRM with the wobbly front wheels of Mark's. It feels more comfortable at speed than Taffy's car, for some strange reason it does very well through the long esses where Taffy's car can swing out and get stuck sideways.
Mark will be here on Sunday to witness the race. I might be more nervous than you running all the cars with the boss here looking over my shoulder.
