[http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/munter000/Resin%20bodies/P1070717.jpg/img] I had issues with getting these turning out half OK. This is from the Airfix W125(?) kit. One has louvre issues and the other the lower rear is poor. I have ground a bogey of resin out of the upper rear of the best one and will slush a second resin through tomorrow. Then I will cut out the cockpit. It should make a great racing shell.

Yep they should Danny.
I have read your thread about your work on these on SF a few too many times. I Remember the faults you pointed out but thought I would not go there and just try to reproduce a racing shell.

Funny you should mention that, Chris The driver is just sitting there. I would use the head maybe. A driver for these shells needs to have bent arms. The grill and headers are separate pieces too.

With Johns 3 resins and my W154, C type Auto union and Alfa 312 that is a good start for the Pre War series,then add Dave Jones and and of Mac,s bodies still lurking and there should be plenty of options.

Another two grams of resin put through the Mercedes shell has made a big difference to the frontal area which is now stronger. The body is now nice and rigid. !5.8 grams before the cockpit is cut out which might remove another 0.7g Working with this shell has made me like the design, previously my thoughts were negative towards it.

I have considered doing the Strombecker Mercedes W125 but it seems like it is too big.
Can someone provide or point me to specs for this car?
Thanks;

I dont have that particular body, Smilin Ray, but I spent a lot of time on another Strombecker body (Testarossa) used it to build up a car and then found out it was way over scale...their D type jag is as well.

Chris thank you for the link, I have moulded the 154 so at least au can see if it is scale and what needs to be done to it if not. Ray the Airfix 125 above is about 3 mm too wide and I think the Strombecker one is just a bit wider, will have to check again,when I can borrow a friends box of "old" bodies.

Yeah, the Testa Rosa and Jag are too large. The Mercedes was sold later as a kit, not in a set, so there is a chance it is more to scale. Yes Phil, I wouldn't doubt that the Merc is a bit wide in order to fit their frame motor of the time. Chris; Thanks for the link. Am I supposed to print the picture, measure, and convert from 1/24 scale? Thanks,
