Preparations continue at Forest Hall Circuit; The Browns Lane Jaguar factory in Coventry have kindly loaned a Jaguar 3.8 E Type for duty as official course and marshal car for the Grand Prix.

Nigel - What a great scratchbuilt slot car you have produced. Surely a winner if there was a prize for the spirit of this forum and this proxy series. Thank you for entering the car in this event.
Dave - Your track just gets better and better. I love the imagination and your eye for detail. What a fitting circuit for the first race of the proxy series.

Just to confirm that Bryan King has let me know that the date for the fourth round of the proxy at Pendle Slot Racing's Slotfire track is the 24th November 2013.
I will fit my round in somewhere between Pete Shepherd's and Bryans.

Dear All, It is with sincere regret that I have had to withdraw my entry for the GPd2013, due to unfortunate personal circumstances beyond my control. This was to be my contender (apologies for the poor quality mobile phone pictures):- The standard of the entries seen so far is absolutely superb. Dave, your track is fabulous! With kind regards, Russell Editor Note: I've added some pictures with a higher resolution. Sorry you weren't able to complete your car this year Russell, but the reason is very understandable. All the best. MH

Bryan King tells me that the Pendle Club in readiness for their round of the proxy have been using the Slotfire track at club nights recently and they are enjoying the flowing nature of the circuit.
The drivers will be nicely dialled in by the time the cars arrive in November.

I'm just guessing where Dave W is. For those interested, the GPd2013 opening round will take place in the North East of England, just north of Newcastle upon Tyne near the East coast. The following photographs provide a flavour of the region local to the track: The Baltic Art Gallery; Newcastle-Gateshead. (Formally Baltic Flour Mill). Sage Theatre: Newcastle-Gateshead. Millenium Bridge Newcastle upon Tyne Quayside. River Tyne. Port of Tyne Company. St Mary's Lighthouse, Whitley Bay (not far from the track). Coast at Whitley Bay. Dave

Lovely travelogue Dave and good to put the series into its geographical context. What a lovely part of the country to live in.

Taffy's BRM arrived this morning safe and sound. I took this picture as evidence of its pristine condition. The slot car is beautifully built and presented and looks much nicer in the flesh than in a photograph - a great build. David

Dave,
Thank you for sharing those pictures of your locale. I'd love to visit the north of England.
David,
Thank you for reporting on the safe arrival of Taffy's BRM. I'm sure Taffy is relieved to see his car looking immaculate at your place. I hope you will take some photos of all the cars as and after they assemble at Southend and before they begin their journey north.

Mark
I will photograph each car and post them here as they arrive and check them over before scrutineering.
Northumberland does look wonderful and I would love to go up for Dave's round but it's a long way, I'm probably nearer to Taffy in Germany than Dave!
David PS Taffy - I had a wonderful holiday in Bavaria back in the 1970s such a magical area.

Nigel, Your car (which is serving as a buffer for my car.. ) and my car left Los Angeles yesterday en route to Southend on Sea. Why our cars traveled west when they needed to go east is a mystery known only to the US Postal Service. David, Thank you for tracking everything over there. I know how fun it is to open those packages as the cars arrive and I do envy you. Taffy, All I can say is that if your car looks even better in the flesh than the photographs then you have built something very, very special. Dave, I'm moving to Northumberland. How are winters up there? I can't believe ti's already September and the first race will be this month!
