Thanks David and Nigel. The Tamiya orange certainly works, although I can now see the cockpit sides look a bit high, so I'll take them down a bit to help give the car a lower, sleeker appearance (so long as I don't mess it up).

Dave Hi Dave, Looks great!!!, I am happy that you are pleased with the Tamiya orange.......keep those pics. coming!! As far as the cockpit sides go, when looking at the 1:1 car pictured on the Autosport cover in this thread, the model looks quite close......the cockpit sides appear to line up with the top of the valve covers, and the top of the monocoque is quite close to the valve cover bottoms.......so I don't think you will have to remove much if any. Perhaps the windshield and roundels will make this span appear less?? When compared to the Autosport cover, the nose on the model does appear to be significantly deeper, and this may be adding to the bulky feel. It looks like you are somewhat limited with the nose top surface, but perhaps a slight trim on the bottom edge of the nose (from the front axle forward) may produce a more "svelte" look.....more like the 1:1 on the Autosport cover. Cheers Chris Walker

Thanks Chris. The orange is perfect. I've taken a little off the cockpit sides. There may have to be a little comprimise here and there, but I think it's starting to look slightly better. The decals & windshield will hopefully help the proportions appearance-wise. Thanks. Dave

Life has been presenting other challenges and distractions of late, but I've now re-engaged with this build and got to work on the 'electrics' wiring and other engine detailing this weekend. I'll post more photos as and when its starts to take shape Thanks. Dave

Dave, I agree; the orange is perfect. Lovely detailing on the engine so far.. (when I opened the thread I thought there was a picture of a spider for a moment!) Very much looking forward to seeing more pictures of your build as it progresses. Cheers.

Thanks Mark. I've completed a little more of the engine and suspension detail over the past couple of evenings. Still plenty to do, but its slowly starting to take shape.

Very nice build as usual Dave, these 3 litre cars sure have a lot of little "pieces-parts", don't they?

Excellent Dave. I love how you retained what was best in the Classic shell and skillfully added the right touches and detail bits and pieces to produce a superb model.

Thank you Mark. The decals are now in place and everything is pretty much complete. To recap: The body shell is by Betta & Classic and is from their 1:32 scale fibreglass ‘Classic’ range. The body was primed with Tamiya grey primer and finished with with Tamiya TS-56 Orange. Wheels are MRRC alloys front and rear; front tyres are trued down Scalextric Trans-Am tyres; rears are NSRs. Detailing parts have all been made from scratch apart from the injector trumpets which are taken from a Scalextric Lotus 49 accessory pack. The driver was originally a Maximodels item, but has been slightly modified for this build to keep it in period. Decals are a combination of Pattos and oddments from the spares bin. Thank you for all your interest and feedback. Dave

Thank you for the replies and comments. I've finished off a couple of other details, probably not noticeable, but I did take a couple more photos.
