The cars hit the track for the first time yesterday for some practice laps. It was an open session so there were several classes on the track at the same time. Here is all the field waiting for the timed session to start. Chris's car did a couple of good laps then the motor expired! The Brabhams dominated this practice session. Qualifying will follow in the next few days before the race early next week.

Thank you for the pictures Phil. That is your home track? Tell us more about it.
There seems to be a profusion of Brabhams and Coopers, but that is probably historically accurate for that period. I only counted 5 cars out of the 17 that weren't Brahbhams or Coopers.
And no BRMS!!! What's that all about, eh?
I do like the variety of colors that we see in the pit lane.
Meanwhile my Lotus 21, which was supposed to be there, sits on a shelf pending a complete tear down (which will involve rebuilding the chassis) to replace the @#$% sputtering Solarbotics motor.

Here a few a few more pics of Shelmore Park. The track is about 6 years old now and is located in a 9m x 9 m lined shed on my property. Lap lenght is around 66ft. I also have two rally tracks in the same shed, along with my workshop area. The rally track on the right has now been replaced with a hillclimb type track. This part resembles Monaco a little. Pits are sort of like Brands Hatch around that period. This pic shows the height changes, about 14". The theme of the track is from around the mid 1970's.

A great hobby room and a wonderful circuit you have there Phil. The track has no particularly long straights but with those nice wide radius corners it must have a nice flowing and pretty quick average speed lap - just my sort of track.

Thanks David,I like a technical track. Cold day here today so ideal to get in the shed and run Qualifying Each car was given ten laps and the best time recorded. Stubbos,Slo1quick and Spoons cars were more difficult to come to grips with due to the lack of brakes. With these cars intermingled with the longer can motored cars it does take a few laps to get used to them. A couple of the slower cars are just great to drive and I think they will do very well in the race.

Race two was run last night and the results were very close with the 3 best cars on the same lap. The Grandkids car managed to just finish ahead of slo1quick and Terry. Drivers for last night were: Bruce Thomas, John Batich, Callan Thomas and Dave Bantoft. Only car to have aproblem was Ferrari 1950 who lost over a bracket when the pinion came loose on his car. Having to remove the rear axle etc to get the body off did not help the time taken for the repair, But it did get back on the track for its last bracket. Haystack was secretary for the night and has taken notes of the drivers comments and I will type them up and post ASAP.

Onya Phil. Looks like the drivers were able to get the #3 car to behave itself to some extent. The yellow one wins, well done! Im pretty happy with my result in such a close race, any one of another 3 to 5 cars could have been there this time around. Well done Terry too, I see he is a new member here on the forum too, he's been awfully quiet. Welcome Terry. This series has a lot of potential podiumites. Would be great to see the Canadians and others find some form too. Mareks little "bile of green did well at Gotham Park last year, which is where the next race is. Thanks for the run and well done guys!

Very nice race report and picture.
What a close result, could this be the closest ever finish of a proxy race? It says a lot for the consistent driving that this was achieved.
The driving impressions for all the cars once again illustrates the difficulty of building one of these very small grand prix cars, some have the knack and others like me struggle.

Like David says; an extremely close result and very consistent driving. That is a lovely looking circuit and I really like all the period buildings and scenery.
