COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE SHELLS
(This list may not be exhaustive and certainly if entrants wish to scratchbuild or convert their own this is very much in the spirit of the regulations and is likely to generate higher concours points).
1970
1970 Brabham BT33 F1 - Betta & Classic
1970 BRM P153 F1 - Betta & Classic
1970 Flat 12 312B Ferrari F1 - Betta & Classic
1970 Lotus 72 F1 - Betta & Classic
1970 March 701 F1 - Betta & Classic
1970 Matra MS120 - Penelope Pitlane
1971
1971 Brabham BT34 F1 - Betta & Classic
1971 Tyrrell F1 - Betta & Classic
1971 Lotus 56B - ProtoSlot Kit
1972
1972 McLaren 19C F1 - Betta & Classic
1972 Surtees TS9 F1 - Betta & Classic
1972 March 721X (non GP version, would require modification) - Penelope Pitlane
1973
1973 McLaren M23 F1 - Betta & Classic
1973 BRM 160e - Tony Condon
1973 Brabham BT42 – Simon (DNQ on SFI)
1973 Lotus 72D (can be modified to B, C or E versions) - Penelope Pitlane
1973 Ferrari 312 B3 – Simon (DNQ on SFI)
1973 March 731 – Simon (DNQ on SFI)
1974
1974 Brabham BT43 - Betta and Classic (despite advertisement as such this is not actually a GP car but could be used as a base for conversion)
1974 Surtees TS14 - Matchbox Original Plastic kit
1975
1975 Fittipaldi FD03 – Simon (DNQ on SFI)
1975 Hesketh 308 – possibly available through Dave Capelan
1976
1976 Ligier JS5 - Tony Condon
1976 Ligier JS5 - ProtoSlot Kit
1976 Ligier JS5 (low air intake version) - British Slot Bodies
1977
1977 Tyrrell P34 - Matchbox Original Plastic kit
Clearly many of these cars raced in more than one season, some with modifications and some looking essentially identical. An attempt at producing a matrix of this has not be attempted.
Betta & Classic bodies should be modified as much as practicable to conform to the real car dimensions.
There are also a number of commercially available RTR bodies which could be adapted for scratchbuild use. These include the Fly March 761 and the Scalextric Ferrari 312T3 and McLaren M23. These or similar cars are eligible provided the bodywork and livery has been modified in order to reflect the fact that this is a ‘scratchbuild’ series. (Entrants wanting to use commercially available shells are advised to contact the organiser with details of what they are aiming to do to avoid misunderstanding. This is not supposed to be a re-livery event.) Entrants should also consider that concours results might be lower for RTR shells is sufficient modification is deemed not to have been made.
ELIGIBLE CARS
There are frankly FAR too many cars between 1970 and 1976 to attempt a definitive list. More so because often cars changed from race to race and even from practice to qualifying to the race. It will therefore be up to entrants to choose a car and offer evidence of the design.
For the First year, given the limited invitation list I suggest that any entrant that wishes can enter two cars.
