Built a loooong time ago from a Mac Pinches shell, I keep on tweaking it. The silver smudges are created by a silver undercoat, with a light coat of green applied on top, just like the original. It's supposed to be a replica of Reg Parnells #30 car, at the 51 Italian G.P., the car should also have been in the second row but his BRM was withdrawn because of lubrication problems. (the same old story) The latest tweak was a set of Peter's wheels. This car has the motor in the front, as the original. I used a scalex motor from a Sharknose Ferrari. Needless to say this car is fun to drive, like the original, it goes around corners like a dog, then out drag races anything on the straights, quite impressive really and loads of fun. Chris

Chris, is this the car which was/is in your website? One of the few such cars on my F1 wish list.
The front mounted motor is interesting. Last year i bought an RTR front motor sports car which immediately had the magnet removed and a quantity of lead added to the rear. It goes exceptionally well.
On new builds I'm now moving to put all motors where the engine was originally placed.
Peter.
PS. Did anyone else find their access to this site blocked for a while?

Hi Peter, yes this is the same car, updated with decals and your wheels....The drivers next.
It run's great on a Ninco or wooden track.
Yeah just got an e-mail from Mel saying he had problems. Pro-boards was probably doing an update.
I'm hoping George will do the v-16, the one with the elephant nose and louvres everywhere, the Mk 1 naturally, then maybe the Mk 2.

That's a very nice model Chris. Peters wheels finish it off beautifully.
Perhaps sometime in the future, GP cars from this period could provide the basis for an attractive proxy series.

Hi Chris.
I did actually ask GT if he had any intention of doing a V16 BRM (and yes, I prefer the one with the elephant nose and all the louvres) but he said no, he does not like it. Mind you, he changes direction on a regular basis, so it could yet come.
Peter.

Was this a PreAdd shell Chris because, if so, Pendle are reviving these and it may live again. They have started with the Ferrari 625 but not sure where they are going after that. Mac Pinches made a nice bodyshell but they need updating now since so much has moved on from when he first made them. Mel

Hi Mel,
Yup that's one of Mac's Pre-Add shells, heavily modified. Mac's shells by today's standards are a little crude, the V-16 required a lot of work.
According to Pendles these are next:
Sean is currently working on several other bodies in the Pre-Add Range. Kit 17 Ferrari Super Squalo - currently being moulded for release in March Kit 4 Maserati 8CTF - currently being remodelled Kit 6 Mercedes W125 - currently being remodelled

Part of your wishes are underway at present Chris. As you may be aware, after a gestation period almost as long as the real thing, the BRM V16 Mk2 is coming along and while I am waiting for the p/e grille to arrive, I have been lashing up a prototype to see what it builds like and to develop the instruction sheet for the kit. The rear wheels are OK but really need bigger tyres and the front wheels are wrong but the sit is OK IMHO. I have had to move the mirrors which are separate pieces so filling and priming required before a final top coat is applied.

Hi Mel
It looks fantastic! Have you put the motor in the front - there doesn't seem much depth in the cockpit area? Really looking forward to getting my hands on one!
Best Regards
David
