I am cheating here because although I've posted in the new builds I actually built this slot car four years ago and it has some serious racing mileage under its belt at Wolverhampton Earlybirds and in Southend Club racing but I never felt the car was finished as I wasn't happy with the head I had used on the driver figure.
This morning I painted and fitted one of the new Immense Miniatures Juan Manuel Fangio heads so at last I'm satisfied the slot car is finished.
The shell is one of Dave Jones and the car depicts the original that Fangio practised at the Monaco Grand Prix.
My chassis uses an ABS rear bracket (Andy Brown Searle) and a BWA front bracket. Tyres are to Earlybird regulation sizes.
The very convincing facial features of the Immense Miniatures head. David

A beautifal car David and the Fangio head provides the finishing touch. I don't know about being well used - it looks brand new (apart from the rear tyres!). I wonder how forthcoming the GTM 250F will turn out?
Best Regards

Yes, your car is a beauty, and I agree with David M, that Fangio looks great!
This car was one of my first builds, and I have found the pictures, that I had made, so I am able to show it in "Rare and exotic creations" My car is far from perfection, but....

Long ago, when I was starting my banking career, I received a suggestion about business attire: "The tie makes the suit". I agreed with that observation, an ugly or cheap tie will distract from the most expensive bespoke suit. But a stunning silk tie (I have always been partial to Hermes) will compliment a pedestrian Brooks Brothers Navy blue suit very nicely.
I feel the same applies to model drivers. A poorly executed figure will take away from an otherwise superb car build. But a great driver figure will really enhance the model. Of course, David's Maserati is first rate, (noting the racing spec. tires) but his finishing of the Immense Miniatures Fangio head really completes the car. In my opinion, of course.

I have the pleasure of seeing George Turner's work in progress on a weekly basis when I visit his workshop either for practice or a club night at his track. I have seen the new 250F he is carving and I've seen all the reference material he is working from. George hopes it will be finished before Christmas and it is going to be a superb bodyshell although it is obviously quite different from the one off V12 car that is in this thread.

I agree with you about the importance of driver figures, they are still a neglected part of almost every RTR or kit produced by manufacturers both large and small and can really spoil the appearance of the car. About twenty years ago I remember a fellow member of a slot car club showing me one of his latest scratchbuilt cars which was beautifully crafted but had a driver figure from a Scalextric RTR in the cockpit which looked awful, I diplomatically asked him why he didn't spend time on the figure and he said it just hadn't occurred to him but once pointed out to him he has since always made sure his figures are accurate.
