Hi everyone, just landed on this site after suggestion from another forum. I'm about to start a 1960's scratch build for an upcoming Tasman proxy race series. I've been in and out of slot cars since about 1965'ish.. maybe '64.... and have again just returned in the past year after a spell of some 20 years....
The bug has really hit hard this time - I still have almost all of my original equipment and cars and have now quadrupled the number of cars and doubled the track.
I recently built a Slot-It GT40 white kit and had an enormous amount of fun and gained much satisfaction in the process.
I am now in the throes of scratch building an F1 car to enter in the Tasman proxy series ... and it is within this forum that I hope to be able to both contribute and glean information.
The models I am contemplating a resin cast bodies - and scratch building the chassis..
The two particular models I envisage at the point in time are the Cooper T53 or the Brabham BT3/7...
I would appreciate any direction forum members may be able to offer in this, my initial scratch built slot car..
I belong to many clubs/organisations - and have substantial knowledge and I hope sufficient building skills from model railway and r/c aircraft.
So, folk - a big "hi" from me.. and please feel most welcome to slap me on the back of the hand if I err beyond acceptable guidelines within this forum.

Welcome Rosco,
I hope you'll enjoy the forum. You'll find quite a few antipodean friends here on the forum, many of which are also entered in the Tasman series of races, hopefully you'll be able to pick up many tricks of the trade from these experts.
Please have fun here, ask questions, and contribute often.
Again welcome,
Chris & Mark

Thanks Chris, and Mark.. yes, read through some of the threads/posts last night - by golly, there are some great builds within... the detail and discipline in some of them is exemplorary... but you folk know that..
I'm in the process of ordering parts - and am working with Steve at Ranch Designs... have sent out some questions to a few people needing confirmation of wheels/tyres for both a Cooper T53 and Brabham BT3/7.... neither of which I have yet found within this forum... obviously due to my inept ability to surf the index for content.
As mentioned, these will be my first builds - and I do not expect much in the way of any perfection.. however, I am prepared to wear my mistakes and repeat as necessary until acceptable....
I will start my own thread when I commence, so - please all one and sundry - feel most welcome to comment/criticise/suggest - it will not be taken adversely and I will never rebuke appropriate criticism....
thanks again, Chris - I can see (excuse pun) where you "dog" comes from in the bear logo.. guess your little mate plays a large role in your life...?
Just on an aside... is there a way within this forum to be notified of replies to your email?... I have yet to find the button or icon...
Oh, and by the way - love my avatar, thanks...

How befitting - Masten Gregory..... he entered the 1961 Grand Prix in a T53, but did not qualify for a grid position... hmmmm
