So folks we have a provisional race calender:
1 Brands Hatch British Grand Prix Apr
2 Sandown Australian Grand Prix May
3 Zandvoort Dutch Grand Prix June
4 Watkins Genn US Grand Prix July
5 Imola San Marino Grand Prix Aug
6 Monza Italian Grand Prix Sept
7 Donnington Park European Grand Prix Oct
(The organisers wish to note that the order of races might change due to travel arrangements.)
The tracks are all famous historic GP tracks and with some mental leep look like this:
First is the British Grand Prix held int he well known South Essex circuit of Brands Hatch. This is a fast flowing and ultra smooth circuit and should be a favourite for the more powerful engined cars.
For the second race the cars are crossing the globe to the famous Sandown Circuit in Australia. In a dramatic valley setting this circuit is smooth and flowing.
Back to Europe the famous Dutch town of Molesey will host the third round. The longest circuit on the calender, this one is both technical and bumpy requiring very well set up and nimble cars.
Off to the US next for a round at the famous Watkins Glenn. This circuit is very fast despite its relatively small size and the smooth circuit should allow close racing.
The cars will then set off for Italy for two rounds during the hot summer period. The first of these will be held at Imola. A very flowing circuit with good straights is however quite bumpy.
Then off for the big event at Monza. Another bumpy circuit as it has always been historically with both long straights and technical sections it will be interesting to see how the cars adapt to this challenge.
Finally the cars return to Britain and in the intimate tradition of English historic racing clubs a small but perfectly formed Donnington Park will be the final venue.
Personally I can't wait....
