Greetings from Hawaii.
My name is Dale and I am from Hawaii.
My favorite drivers are Jim Clark and Mario Andretti.
Got into 1/32 last year and have been doing mostly Proxy racing as there is very little slot car slot racing here. Have spent many years with HO racing and have loved it. One challenge with growing old is that this scale is hard to see but still fun.
Have enjoyed previewing your site and would love to do more with scratch building cars from the 1962 - 1973 Formula, which were some of the most creative and dangerous cars ever made raced.
I have followed Formula One and Indy car since the early 60's and have always followed with interest.
Have just purchased a Penelope kit to learn more about this scale.
Look forward to learning from all of you.
Aloha

Hi Dale,
Welcome to the forum. You're the first member from Hawaii, this forum has probably become one of the most "International" slot car forms available.
Please enjoy your time spent here, if you have any questions just ask, we'll be glad to help.
Chris

Apologize for the delay. Purchased the Lotus 16 and Lotus 18 models. Would like to make Lotus 18 in Jim Clark's #6, the first car he raced. Recommendations on rear tires would be greatly appreciated and any other comments that you feel would be prudent. Thank you Aloha Dale

Use the tyres from the Scalextric Sharknose Ferrari or Cooper. You'll have to order them from Pendles/Slot City in the U.K. This is what they'll look like: Use wheels and inserts from RS Slotracing also in the U.K. you'll need RSW001 for the fronts and RSW002 for the rear. Good luck, Chris

I would use the RSW001 wheels at both ends of the car as the Scalextric front and rear tires suggested above fit the same narrow ridge wheels. The RSW002 wheels have a wider central spine. If you plan to use the car for any type of competition, you should consider urethane tires moulded from the Scalextric tires. RS sells Ortmann brand tires moulded from the Scalextric rears (type 37W). Paul Gage and Dart sell urethane copies of both fronts and rears.

I think the Gage tyres are in fact replacements rather than copies, that is, they are made from machined masters. They run very true.
Peter.

Peter, while it is true that Paul Gage makes a line of tires prefixed "PGT" that are from his own original masters, he also sells urethane copies of the above-referenced Scalextric early 60's F1 tire (as do Dart and Ortmann). That tire, like the Scalextric rubber original, fits on the RSW001 wheels with the skinny spine.
