Well being housebound due to recent health problems (again) has it's advantages, I can build and post photo's of another work in progress. This Time it's a 1964 BRM P-261, as driven by Mr Monaco Himself: Mr Graham Hill. Naturally he won that years Monaco G.P. The body is one of Dave Jones latest shells, all orifices opened up, and duly reinforced on the inside with glass fibre cloth and super glue. This body is extremely narrow, and the new Mk 3 Beardog chassis just fits. Motor is an untested as of yet Mk-2 Beardog Mini motor with carbon brushes, I'll soon see how that runs. Wheels? The last of my stock of BWA 13" with the correct BWA-BRM inserts (thank you Mr Mark Huber)....oh! and for once fairly detailed suspension. An Immense Miniatures Graham is sitting in the wings, completed, but not yet installed. I now have 2 BRM's to paint in the familiar BRM green, this and an early BRM P-578.

Shaping up to be another lovely build Chris! "Mk2 Beardog mini motor with carbon brushes"... sounds interesting. Is this a 'one of' custom job or readily available? The rear shockers and torsion rods and tie rods look superb. Im intrigued as to if and how you've mounted them around the crown, any chance of a pic of chassis without the body? Will you be painting it with your traditional Tamiya blue over green or the Maserati rifle grey? Apologies for all the nosey questions. All the best.

Hi Chris
Sorry to hear you have not been too well again. The P261 is splendid. I have one under construction and like you write the Dave Jones shell is very slim but excellent as always. I have resorted to an HO motor I bought from Ranch Design some time ago and a very narrow rear bracket! Not too sure how it will perform - but I have other build priorities at the moment!
By the way did you get my e-mails with the M2B photographs, please? Hope they didn't end up in your spam box!
Best Regards
David

Well I changed my mind. Everyone has done number 8 the P-261 Graham ran at Monaco. So just to be diferent I chose number 6. The same car, but at the next race: the Dutch Grand Prix. Paint is my usual mix of Tamiya British Green and Dark Metalic Blue, rivet decals are by Indycals, and the numbers are by Scale Auto. Top rear radius rod has yet to be fitted, because the body will be on and off the chassis frequently having an Immense Miniatures Graham fitted. Believe it or not the best tyres I could find for this car are some still soft 1960's MRRC BRM units, the correct size, and still soft.

You know what I think already! My builds feel like quick pencil sketches compared to these masterful oil paintings.... But..... Those tyres just aren't quite right!! Probably for racing within certain rules but they just look slightly too fat. Really special work Chris. Andi

Graham finding the cockpit very snug, but comfortable. The excellent Immense Miniatures Graham figure has to go on a diet to fit the Dave Jones body cockpit. a little bit of slimming and he fits fine. Still a little bit of tweeking required, he still needs a dash and the fuel pick-up, (the one in the front of the cockpit under the circular opening in the windscreen).
