Hi Russell,
I'm using one or the pinion gears off an old Cox 1/43 Eagle, the ones designed by Philippe de Lespinay, but Andy's 72DP work as well. Unfortunately BSRT no longer make armatures with that timing, that's why I now use wizzard.

This really belongs in the "old stuff" section but I thought it would stick it in here as a comment on the new center pivot chassis: (Probably to be seen again as the entry in the "Grand Prix de Garagenista" proxy. EM

Hi Russell, Rats all my secrets out of the box... So, a Mashima with ball bearings, and a custom wind 29 gauge? I hope you know this means war!!! Chris Okay, so now we have the scratch builder equivalent of the nuclear arms race. Chris, this is what you get when you insist on open motors.. Good luck... In the meantime, my entry will be powered by a $2.50 special from Canada --I think it's mostly used for electric tooth brushes.

Looks awesome Chris. I hope the proxy tracks can handle the power of yours and Russell's motors.

I always enjoy reading such threads, even it the car is a bit modern....
The ideas gained from reading such threads are always a great help to those who build rather than buy.
The photo's are also excellent. Too good, they show up the wheel inserts!
A have some Mashima motors for some of my railway builds. I think they were meant to be THE motor at one time.
Peter.

Any updates on what looks to be a great project?
Also, can you share your impressions of this Mashima motor? I have a soft spot for open frame motors, and that motor looks like a beauty!
