I have just got back home after escaping from Cambridgeshire where the full moon had caused a spate of accidents on no less than three separate sections of our normal route home forcing me into a devious diversion or two. However, the day was worth it firstly for seeing my little Grandson who is now walking properly and secondly for picking up the BRM V16 master and associated bits viz: Off to the caster then for some real action. The grilly bits are going to be photoetch but we need a resin cast first.

I very much hope, and expect, that you will be delighted with the sales this kit attracts. Like a few cars, a failure but nevertheless, an icon.
Peter.

It's Mel's now, Peter, but we all hope it will, indeed, be a success. That's all that can keep smaller outfits alive, especially with all the doom being spoken about slot racing's demise.

The boy Martin certainly done well on that one but you should see the tiny Amilcar master he has made, I fell in love right away and might ask him to make a little Bug to go with it. Enough straying into the pre-war era, all the BRM bits are now boxed up and ready to ship to the Antipodes for casting.

Don't forget the Gonzales figure, Mel. You'll need that too won't you?
I would be happy to do a Brescia Bug, though generally, I ain't a huge Bug fan, but it suits my liking for hilclimbers.
As to the death of slotracing, I've no idea since I don't buy anything!
I did the Amilcar in a day or less just because I love 'em. Always have.

I'd certainly concur with Chris. The mainstream slot car business has often been in trouble, and now we have a situation of too many manufacturers aiming for similar markets.
The scratchbuild market has always been small, with just a few brave and enthusiastic folk making bodies to satisfy the demand.
I consider myself fortunate that it is the latter market which attracts me, which is not to say that I do not have many RTRs. Well, almost RTRs.....
Peter.

In the Golden Days we used to have Scalextric, Revell, Airfix, Monogram, Cox, SRM, Wrenn 152, Champion, all doing their own sets. I dare say I've forgotten some. Now, we don't seem to have so many doing the whole kit'n'caboodle. Or so many cottage industries supplying the build it yourself end of things. In those days we all accepted vac-forms (as we still should) and there were many of those! Not being a buyer of such things or a racer I'm probably not a great source of info though and just have to accept what happens.

Part of the problem with Scaley is that (according to a retailer I happen to know) they appear to set production quotas with no idea of the probable demand. This results in a lot of unsold cars in certain categories and underproduction of the really popular ones thus losing the confidence of the punters. Many of the manufacturers seem to work on the principal that if you make anything, people will buy it. It doesn't work like that as I have found out to my cost.

If you keep plugging away at it, it will eventually sell, I'm sure, especially in such a tiny sector of the whole business. If anyone should know their market it ought to be the oldest practitioners IN that market shouldn't it???

As posted under Chris's BRM V16 build, here is the current state of the V16. I am awaiting p/e currently and will chase again in a couple of weeks as there other interested parties in the fret viz Colin and an AC Ace grille. After some kind folk on FB sent me some nice photos of the original car, I was able to improve the stance quite a bit. Now I need to write up the kit instructions based on what I have discovered eg I put the mirrors in the wrong place originally so had to remove them and put back properly. Tyres and wheels need some improvement and minor stuff like the driver, steering wheel, dashboard and exhausts fettling.
