This is a car that I have been planning to build for a long time It was owned and driven by a relative of my wife's - 'Bummer' Scott and I know the colours (I had many long converations with the driver) and have a resin body. One day I will build it as a tribute but it may not be to the standard that Peter manages. However it will be to the best standard I can manage. This car is now in the Brooklands museum. Cheers Mel

Hi Mel.
Wow! Excellent project, superb pictures, presumably from the Brooklands Society archives?
Do you have dates and events to go with these pictures.
I believe this was the car which driven by Robert Benoist (also a 2LCV driver) to win the 1927 British Grand Prix.
I will watch this project with interest and envy.
Peter.

Mel, is that the chassis of Alan Burnard ? I suppose that you know that only 6 chassis where produced in 1927 and only 4 are existing today ...

No, it's Bummer Scott's car. As Mel will, I'm sure tell you, Bummer was a relative of his wife's and bought this one from Sir Malcolm Campbell. I have just completely rebuilt the mess which was the resin body and also made a brass scale chassis for the model, so, with its aluminium interior, reworked driver and front slimline motor it's a bit of a one-off!

Here's a pic. It uses a set of RS Slotracing's new skinny 19" wheels and tyres. In this instance the 48 spoke option. Cheers, Martin

This car has a bit of a history and most of the mods got removed. It got really hacked about over the years with the engine being replaced with a non Delage unit, smaller wheels etc. I once saw it at the Goodwood Festival of speed (see attached pictures) with a brass plaque on the bonnet showing a list of owners. These pictures were scanned in and so a lot of the detail was lost. I then heard that the car had been donated to the Brooklands museum and I know a couple of people who are friends so they confirmed that this was indeed Bummers old ride. I gave up trying to build the car myself and handed the project over to Martin who knew about some great new wheels. I must say that they do look the business.
