Hi Chris
Thank you, Advice on anything would be appreciated as in the past I have made a lot of expensive mistakes hobby wise
This time i have scoured this forum before ordering anything, so far 2 alfas from GT some figures from Immense and all three Beardog frames from AB, sadly they could not supply #1, hopefully one of the other two chassis will fit the Ferrari 158 i intend to make next, I ordered some gears from ranch design but received no reply, have since read on this forum they are no longer in buisness, I ordered a Scaleauto yellow motor from AB for the alfa but they sent a SRP 25 stating the Scaleauto motor is no longer produced, dont suppose it will make any difference,
Fortunantly GT list what type of wheels i need, but before i place an order with pendles does anybody know what length axles I will need for a Alfa 12C ?

Hi Paul - Which wheels are you getting?
I would think 45mm - 50 mm axles will do. They are easy to cut to size with a Dremel. Another option is to get some some 3/32 drill blanks and cut to size as needed.
cheers David

Hi Jim,
Beardog Chassis #3 is specifically made for 1961-1965 G.P. cars, it will fit the Ferrari Perfectly.
For Gears get the Slot-it offset 23 tooth gear and a matching pinion. You can set the chassis up offset.
Look at the motor mount. It can be used two different ways, offset and standard.
You'll need a Dremel with cut-off wheels to cut the chassis out, use the cutoff wheel to trim a 3/32" drill blank to size. The front axle needs to be 1/16", cut out of piano wire.
Use 3/32" brass tube over the ends of the axle, so that they fit the wheels.
You'll also need a Dremel Model # 7144 1/8 in. Shank Diamond Taper Point, to dress out the hole in the front up-rights.

Hi Jim
Welcome to the Forum. The Alfa 12c is a great model - I really enjoyed building mine. The axle length needs to be about 46/47mm, 45mm is just a bit too short, so you will probably need to take a Dremel to a longer axle.
Best Regards
David

Hi Paul, a delight to find a newer member who dives in head first.
A fine choice of car. Of the GTM pre-war GP cars this is my favourite though also my slowest. i suspect you will not have my problem as you are using a metal chassis, getting the weight just where you want it.
I also used the exceedingly ugly driver supplied with the kit.
I look forward to seeing your progress.
Peter.

Hi Peter Thank you for the encouragement, I must admit that I am enjoying this new aspect of my hobby immensely
That is a beautiful model you made, will be pleased if mine looks as good as that.
