I love the color. Some of the footage of the drivers is amazing. Look at the ground clearance on the ERA... that's not 1/16" in 1/32! BRM's ignominious debut of the V-16 at Silverstone is featured around the 14:00. Not a highpoint for the constructor! This segment ends with the comment "The Germans were coming back", as it shows the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 rolling out. No martial music though. I hope to find the remaining segments somewhere on YouTube.

Many thanks for posting this Mark. What a wonderful film. I wasn't in possession of a TV when this was first broadcast in 1988. Channel 4 aired one or two decent motor racing documentaries in the late 80s and early 90s, but I've never seen this one before.

I've got these on Video somewhere, will have to have a good dig.
Channel 4 also did the evening of motor racing, anyone remember that? Doug Nye, Stirling Moss and others chatting about F1 and racing in general for about 8 hours between showing classic Ford archive films. It was magic but sadly never to be repeated.
