My apologies for the poor quality of the picture, I took this in poor light with my cell phone. In any event:
1) Indycals now make 1/32 decals for the Scalextric Lotus 72E*, and
2) I would appreciate advice on the best way to go about removing the Scalextric markings and preparing this shell before I put on the superb Indycals decals.
* the car is CRAP as a racer, but the body is rather pretty. After relivery this will be going on a scratch built chassis.

Mask off the stripes with a LOW TACK masking tape, and use the above polishing (finish polishing compound)with a Q-tip.
Easy peezy

I vote for a new paint job. Not easy peezy, but then I wouldn't be the one who'd be doing it. To prepare the shell, the surface of the plastic should be sanded smooth before primer and paint is applied. Scalextric doesn't do this as far as I can tell, and of course, why would they, as it is time consuming hand work. But the resulting finish would be better than the factory finish.

I would try using clear decal paper sprayed black applied over the CTL logos and apply the JPS decals on that. Its worth a try. Personally, the Classic Team Lotus markings don't bother me enough to go to all that trouble-respraying etc-it looks fine out on the track. Having said that,if anyone does do a re-livery,I'd like to see pics... TED........

Just a thought, chaps, but today is September 5, 2015, which means it's exactly 45 years ago today that Jochen Rindt died at Monza in the Lotus 72. Seems like yesterday to me, yet 45 years have ticked by. Gosh.

Whoa-nearly half a century..
I'm always nowadays being surprised at how long ago some things occurred. Jochen was a truly great driver. I remember seeing him on the telly racing F2 (lotus 69?) against other F1 regulars.
Great TV! I was at at a clubbie at Aintree when his crash was reported over the tannoy...I couldn't believe it. I just went home right away.
I read once Niki Lauda said of Rindt "I saw him in a fringed jacket like Roger Daltrey wore-on anyone else it would look ridiculous, but he just looked fantastic"
