It is perhaps inevitable that (in the Northern hemisphere at least) this time of year sees a little more activity with regard to building slot cars. Thus it is no surprise to see that within a week recently, three new members have joined us.
Perhaps our new members would care to say hello in our introduction thread, at the top of the first board on the F1 Forum home page. The suggestion is also made to those long term members who have not yet posted. Please do say hello.
Members, and indeed prospective members are reminded of the other forums within the family, mentioned at the bottom of the home page.
We are a pretty relaxed, generally very friendly bunch, so please do join in.
Peter.

Hi from frozen Fargo, North Dakota USA. I'm a 71 year old former Californian, and former member of Miniaturte Electric Scale Automobile Club, the mighty MESAC, from 1969-1978(The End). In the eighties, I raced with a group called SARC, or Scale Auto Racing Club, on a 100' 3-lane track. If no one minds, I will just lurk a bit and ask silly questions, as I have been out of racing for about 30 years. I can tell you guys one thing, your detailing standards would have won concourse at most MESAC events, you are just in a different league! On with the fun. John

Welcome John, we're glad to have you here. Even though I'm an Englishman (living in Atlanta) I have heard of MESAC, and the very talented members there-of. From what I have managed to garner, they had a European aprouch to slot racing.
Please lurk and ask silly questions, we'll be pleased to answer and help.
Again welcome.
Chris

Hello, my name is Paolo Rossi, from Rome Italy. I am 56 and since my childhood I've been very fond of motor racing and slot car racing (that's also the only type of racing I still can afford). After having built almost an hundred of 1/43 white metal and resin kits, I started to build slot cars in 1/32 scale. Not exactly from scratch but buying kits from Penelope Pitlane, George Turner, Pre-Wing, Ostorero and Beardog. I prefer to build Formula 1, Sports cars and Indy cars (expecially Roadsters) from 1950 to the late seventies. I am not so good as a racer as long as a kit builder, so it'llbe difficult I dare to publish the photos of my "creations"...however I hope to share my passion with other people. Best regards, Paolo "Paolo1060"

Welcome to the forum Paolo. I'm sure we look forward to seeing the first of your builds. I'm also sure that having built almost 100 1/43 scale kits, those in 1/32 scale are no problem.
Perhaps you would also like to visit this forum..... sports-car-132-forum.proboards.com/
This is where you will find sports car builds.
Welcome again, Peter.

Hi... You forum looks great. I have only made a few scratch built 1/32 cars but have a longstanding interest in F1, especially cars from the mid 60's having seen many of the Tasman Races at Warwick Farm. I was fortunate to be taken by a close friend who was a steward of the course, meaning we got into the infield. As a result, I got to meet some of the famous racers including Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, Chris Amon, and Jim Clark and then a number of other Aussie racers. I am interested in 60s F1 and sports racers in 1/32 and have a number of Scalextric cars from the 1960s cars that don't perform all that well and also their newly released 60's F1 cars that are particularly good by comparison. I am interested in finding some resin bodies to start building in earnest so maybe one of your members can point me in the right direction. Regards.... MOS

Welcome Mos Although not my primary area of interest this is the right place for 1960's F1 cars. As well as the excellent models offered by the companies above, before the recent desire for absolute accuracy many a lovely build was made by the earlier bodies produced in fibre glass here bettaandclassic.com/classicbodies1.htmGood luck Andi

Welcome to the F1 Forum Mos. I'd guess you will fit in pretty well here because; You said hello. You are into your 60s F1 cars (early 60's are the most popular). You are keen on the real thing. You might also care to visit our sister forum. sports-car-132-forum.proboards.com/The market place seems full of car bodies these days, with the number of popular but unavailable cars diminishing, though alas some have ceased manufacture due to lack of interest. The kits available vary tremendously from the very basic shells (at very modest prices) to those at the other end of the scale. I look forward to seeing your first choice of build, something pre-war perhaps........ Welcome again, Peter.

Mos Welcome to the best F1 Forum. I assume from your comments you are a fellow Aussie, there are a few on here. Some of us even remember attending the Tasmsn Races, I myself can remember Going to Longford with my Dad, staying at my Grsndmothers house that was with in the track area only a couple of houses from Pub Corner. You may be interested in looking thru Stubbo's Tasman Cup Proxy thread. As for resin bodies from that period I can offer many of them including several Tasman Variants.
Phil
